Colts-Texans: One PI call per game?

But it's momentum, duh! That one penalty broke the Texans' fragile little psyches and forced them to never stop the Colts, and also forced Schaubie to throw two picks (including a pick-six) and give up a strip sack as well. 35-3 run, you say? Well it's all about momentum! It's the refs! Refs I tells ya!

Well it lead to a TD, after about 8 attempts from the 2 after another penalty, but anyway, the colts won by 7..soooo...

That's about enough out of you and your "logic."

:shake:

Sorry but logic is, a bogus 50 yard penalty helped out the colts a great deal in that game and anyone watching it knows this. The changes in a game late are from teh outcome of what happens early on. The texans are not exactly pressing if they colts are down 6 instead of up 1.

I had a bigger issue with the TD being overturned on a replay... from what I could see, he not only had both hands on the ball, holding it tightly, he touched both feet inbounds as he pulls the ball into his chest to protect it.. still had total control, then he hits the ground after keeping solid control of the ball, and the ground makes the ball pop out... they call it no control, and the announcer says something stupid about a 'football move'... it's the freaking endzone.. football move? How about the move where he caught the ball with no bobble, total control and put both his feet down inbounds? I just don't understand how the Colts have 'home field' advantage even when they're on the road..

I know everyone loves Peyton Manning, but it's pretty absurd... That game last night, there was a no call on a blatant PI.. if that's Peyton Manning throwing the ball and not Flacco, it's a PI every time. Hell, it's probably a PI even if there was no contact from what I've been watching this year!

You're right. One flag lead to 28 unanswered points in the second half.

Amazing how that one penalty scored 28 points for Indianapolis and held Houston to 0. That is one hell of an infraction.

You don't think the first drive of the second half in a game where your team is trailing is important? Maybe I'm over-emphasizing the importance of it, but if Houston stops Indy on that opening drive, everything changes.

The Texans imploded from there. As stated earlier, the Colts are good enough on their own... no need for any bogus 40-yard penalties in a tight game.

Or you know if they score some points in the second half (aside from a gift of the prevent defense with about 30 seconds left in the game) everything changes.

But of course I forgot about that flag on the first drive of the 3rd quarter (against their defense) which prevented their offense from scoring any points.

The other penalty was completely legit. The only person I've seen argue otherwise was someone who admitted he didn't watch the game (yeah, really).

Also the Colts won by 8, not 7; and they were up by 15 until a garbage time TD allowed by soft, clock-wasting defense.

I think you are really missing the point of a correct called foul and a badly called foul, one resulting in 10 yards, one resulting in 50 yards, but play it however you want. Nobody said it won the game, but it damn sure helped at the time it was called, if you want to deny this cool.

I read a post on another board and the poster pointed out the absurdity of these huge gains by penalty.

Why isn't an offense penalized as severely for an offensive PI as the defense is? Why isn't offensive PI on a 50 yard pass not a 50 yard penalty (or half the distance to the goal) against the offense? If the penalties were equal and the ball could change position wildly in either direction, it would be even more obvious how whacked these calls are, and how much the refs are affecting the outcome of the game.

The colts had a very similar call to this back in 2007 against the Patriots. Gonzo caught the ball it was laying on his chest.(while he was laying on his back on the ground) He had a broken right hand it slipped of his chest onto the turf. Refs called it a dropped pass and Colts came away with 3. But of course like you said refs are just biast for Peyton Manning. I bet you understood the call great back then. But now it's just confusing for you I guess.

Also the Colts won by 8, not 7; and they were up by 15 until a garbage time TD allowed by soft, clock-wasting defense.

And some of those later points were off houston pressing. Like I said, if the colts dont score on that drive, the entire game is changed. The colts probably still win, but it does change the game. That score cut it to 6.

Legit? Dude, it's common knowledge any flag in the Colts favor was only thrown because Polian is paying off the officials.

Unless of course they don't throw a flag on the other team for an obvious penalty, but during the course of that play the other team turns the ball over. Then the officials didn't throw the flag on the other team because they KNEW it would help the Colts.

I see you missed the game thread.

Next you should try to make the argument that you only get those PI calls because part of your game plan is to throw it long.

Why are you trying to argue that blatantly wrong PI calls aren't helping your team win games?

The ball hit the turf, and you are not calling that a dropped pass? Interesting. You do know the rule that you have to maintain posession all the way to thr ground right? I watched a BJGE catch a ball in the endzone, had both feet down and possession and then fell out of bounds and the ball came out and it was ruled incomplete. If you learn the rules, this might help you understand what a bad call and a good call are.

The Colts have had five straight come from behind wins. I KNOW that two were aided by huge gains on non-legit PI calls, NE and Houston. I'd be interested to know if the other three had plays like those.
