2011 NFL Draft Day 2 Thread

Alright so before we take a TE with the next pick and everyone says how great a pick it is, everyone say now what the pats will take next. I did not see this guys name on anyone's list of picks today, and now we stole him.

Kyle Rudolph is great value and while im not incredbly interested, it's basically like another Gronk. and he is already a steal considering his talent.

boo. didn't really want williams, but Leshoure should now be the next back taken

ROFL ROFL ROFL (You're joking, right?)

I believe he was pegged as a good pick for the Pats by a couple of pretty knowledgeable guys on here.

A good pick at 33?

Jeebus farkin Crist! You got the 2nd most premier pick in the draft. You've got the best defensive backfield in the division and you don't trade it so you can take Terrence Wheatley Jr.! :banghead:

No. You wouldn't do that. Not unless you are braindead.

and we didn't do that.

I highly approve of this pick. The kid is really good.

Sheard is now off the board.:banghead:

First line of his bio reads...."Battled injuries most of the season and appeared in only five games "

Yippee I think maybe a long snapper with a good motor that can work into a position in the next 5 years is on the board.

Gronk didn't even PLAY the year before he came to the Pats.

I can see the Pats moving up before our next scheduled pick.

I agree.

Cleveland picks Sheard - another player for the Pats who I didn't want.

I'm liking how this is going so far. Two studs at key positions in Solder and Dowling. Now give me Kenrick Ellis, Da'Quan Bowers and Ben Ijalana with our next 3 picks and I'll be elated.

Sheard is now off the board.:banghead:

I never thought Sheard was an OLB candidate. He has no lateral mobility - 4.61 40 and 4.46 short shuttle are almost identical. He's stiff, and stricly a DE as far as I'm concerned. I'm thrilled he's gone.

Sheard will kill someone in the NFL. and by that i don't mean with a big hit or something, most likely with a knife

I know and it worked out, not sure why that means this will.

Because when you get clear first round talents in the second, it's always worth the risk

Fair enough. JUst so we are on the same page, where did you have this corner the pats just stole from the rest of the league at?

I am not sure the 33rd pick in the draft is really a pick where you just take a stab in the dark at, thats a pretty high pick.

Oh, wow! I was driving home from work when I heard this pick. What a dream come true. I have raved about Dowling in the past plenty of times, so I'll spare you all the profuse praise, but I LOVE this pick. I fully believe he's our second best defensive back by the end of the year, behind only McCourty, and has the ability to be even better in time if he can stay healthy.

:dbanana:

I don't think Dowling will be better than McCourty, but he'll eventually either be an upgrade from Leigh Bodden or an upgrade from Brandon Meriweather. Either one suits me.

It doesn't mean either thing but people quoting the stats about his playing time etc. just should remember that.

But I really should stop reading draft threads because it always makes me chuckle how even incredibly knowledgable fans always assume the worst of our picks.

I thought Kearse was still playing.
Actuallly a good pick. Very glad to see him go to a 4-3 because he's just not a 3-4 lb like a lot of people wanted

Ayers bye bye. Its starting to dwindle.
