Pats 2nd Round #50 Pick -- Tyquan Thornton

So you would agree that the eventual results of this draft fall squarely on the shoulders of Bill?

And if the picks turn out well, will you give Bill credit for this draft?

Yes. Obviously. It wasn't one of BB's best sign-offs...
Obviously????? If this is sarcasm I apologize but You haven't even seen him running a route in a patriot uniform yet. He could suck, he could be Tyreek Hill 2.0. we have no idea. Not sure how anything is obvious at this point.

I thought BSF was referring to Harry but I could be wrong.

Of course, likewise if it's bust will you give him criticism?
I tend to be pretty lenient on draft "failure" just because the hit rate is so low and the sample size is so small. I mean, even in the first round the hit rate (depending on how you define it) is probably in the 25 - 50% range - and if it's closer to 50% you're defining "hit" pretty generously, and would wrap in guys like Michel and Wynn as hits - and much worse late in the round where Belichick pretty much always drafts.

And even there, so much is dependent on the rest of the roster. If you draft a 4th round safety, but then have the opportunity to get a great starter for a good price via trade or FA, you do it. The better your team (and especially if you focus on depth) the harder it is for draft picks to break into a key role to be considered a success. And you are restricted in the draftable players you have to choose from since fewer positions offer any chance to win a key role.

You can judge the success of a given draft class, but I'm not comfortable assigning it to the skill or lack thereof of the drafter with a single class.

I'd say in BB's position (given the late picks and the generally stacked, deep roster) over any given 5 year period the Mendoza line, so to speak, would be drafting maybe 5 starters that average out to be solid starters, 8 other contributors, with 1-2 of the players being real difference makers over the 5 year span factoring in with some wiggle room for the value of picks that come back from relevant trades, etc.

I'm absolutely OK with drafting this WR...he was overdrafted, but, whatever. As long as he produces, I'm cool with it.

If only we could find a sleeper in the draft like the bears. I remember this guy slotted at #200 on pff draft rankings.

Other team's "sleepers" are Belichick's follies.

Get it right, foo.

:ROFLMAO:

Like Meyers, or more like Edelman?

Absolutely correct. The draft weenies scream, "WTF are they doing??? He was no more than a second rounder! We're screwed!" Well, if the guy ends up being a real, contributing player, which often happens, no one remembers or cares where TF he was drafted nor do they remember.the guy drafted after him whom we could have had who ended up a bust. It's all such hindsight, phony BS. It's particularly disappointing when usually responsible media people get caught up in and engage in that absolute nonsense. And it happens all the time.

Disaster.
