Slater joins Patriots coaching staff full-time

Yes, this was a great article to come across. Slater has been a gem in the locker room and a standout on the field (once he found special teams as his ideal placement and they stopped trying to make him be a WR) all along. He has always seemed like a terrific person and a great Patriots representative. I'm sure Daddy Jackie is likewise proud and thrilled. He was a mainstay for the Rams for many years and great to see the talent being passed along.

I see him on the head coach track from the get-go. He's already been coaching for years and absorbing the mind of the goat.

Best of luck and bless you Matthew!

Edit not to mention that we know of none more universally respected and universally liked.

Maybe he can keep a little fire of the winning ways of the past burning in Foxboro.
I'm glad to know he will have some influence on the players. He knows what it takes.

It just seems to make sense to keep Slater on board, but I was worried that he would want to take some time off or
wait for the guys he played with to cycle out of Foxboro, but......kudos to the organization and Matthew for getting
this done.

This plays into my hopes that the great things that came out of the Dynasty era and the great people have learned
how to keep the core values that Bill insisted on while refining it with their own views and experience to make it
as good again. Or possibly even better. That's a lot to hope for, but maybe what we will get to see is more a
rekindling of the torch rather than extinguishing it completely now that Bill is gone. Not an end, but a fresh start.

Slater is one of the many students who learned their lessons well. Now it's time to pass them on to the next
guys up.
