Well, folks- as has been said before- we're in Kuwait getting ready to go north.

Camp Buehring is in the desolate northern portion of Kuwait, some 50 miles from the Kuwait-Iraq border.

We've been conducting training, offloading our gear and just doing the last few things we need to get accomplished before we go.

Eventually, I'll have a website set up and post the link so you can follow our tour over the course of the year. Also- keep a lookout for us in the news- 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division "The Dragons" out of Fort Riley.

That's all for now- thanks again for all the kind words and wishes of support from all who have posted.

Kirk

Again, please put your well-wishes in this thread: http://www.patriotsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?threadid=21518&perpage=15&pagenumber=1

The previous well wishes that were here were moved to that thread.

This sticky is mainly for H37 to be updated on what's going on and to update us when he has the time, and to let us know what the boys need for those who want to send aid, if I understand the process correctly.

God bless her- a sister in arms. You must be extremely proud.

Is she in Baghdad?

I was stationed here in S. Baghdad with Box_O_Rocks's nephew, so it is a very small world!

yes she is in bagdad camp liberty i hear its a safe camp?

Ah...she must be in the Ivy Division, eh?

Yes, Liberty is safer than most. If you're going to be in Baghdad, it's as good a place as any to be, and she'll have pretty nice facilities for everything and all. It's not bad- I've been there on a few occasions and stayed for 4-5 days at a time. I've seen a lot worse- I can tell you that!

I'll tell you- honestly- the violence is WAY down from where it was when I got here in Feb. From then up until about Sep.-Oct it was crazy bad. The worst I've seen in two previous tours here.

I'm down the road from her about 25 minutes. Thank her for her service for me- from a fellow Soldier.

Hey youse guys-

It's just a little after 11pm here in Baghdad. No sign of Santa yet, but I'm going to hit the sack. Gonna be up early to open presents- er- well, maybe not.

But, I'm going on a mission down into Dora to attend a Christian worship service. Going to church...on Christmas Day...in Baghdad. Who'da thunk it?

MERRY CHRISTMAS Kirk

we are thinking of you and will never forget that you are so far away from home

all the best to you :thumb:

These guys got it right. Who would've thought that one of THE most liberal papers in London would report on the positive developments here, but there it is.

Some of you might recognize the name of the U.S. Army officer they interview in the piece... ;)
To bad they couldn't find a reliable source instead of some hockey thug holding up a street corner! o:)

Merry Christmas Kirk! :patriots!

The worship services (I went to two different ones) were amazing- one was held in the burned out remains of a church hit with two car bombs in 2004, but more than 300 people attended and they are going to rebuild it.

If I could figure out how to post pictures on here, I'd put up a photo that I think really sums up what Christmas is. This truly is a picture worth a thousand words. Maybe some of the girlie pic veterans can help me out...
