Just picked one up and I see there are several different ways to do this. I seem to recall this was discussed in another thread a while back but I couldn't find it.

Couple questions:

1. Is Kodi the best platform?

2. Should I use a VPN?

3. I heard there was an option where I could pay $5 per month and get all MLB, NHL, NBA and NFL games. Anyone know the truth?

Thanks

Jr and his roommate broke one. I'll ask, he may be able to tell me. Dumb college student so who knows.

Jr said they used Kodi for downloading, Exodus for movies. No VPN necessary.

They use sports devil for sports. They're able to get everything.

You have to be careful about the links. That kodi shows . You can easily upload a virus or malware . Just by clicking on the video .

The VPN might not be a bad idea. My friend didn't use one and got a "friendly" call from his internet provider reminding him that what he was doing was illegal. I used it on one of the older fire sticks and didn't like it at all. I ended up removing it after using it off and on for about a month. The thing seemed to crash all the time and it just took too long to get to what I was looking for.

I have zero knowledge on the topic, but I'm seeing several outfits online selling them already jailbroken? Might be easier than doing it yourself? Not sure.

There really is no such thing as jailbreaking a firestick. They are not locked. It would sort of be like calling adding microsoft office to your laptop, jailbreaking your laptop.

If you do not use a VPN you will have a lot of trouble with being blocked. It can really be a lot of work going through the different add ons to KODI. If I am going to use KODI I plan on plenty of time to search for what I am looking for. With Amazon Prime, I can just wait for free preview weeks to catch up on shows I like, just as easily.

Thank you all for your responses.

I was using Hide My Ass as a VPN but it's not compatible with the Firestick so I just downloaded IPVanish (best recommended)

Looking forward to getting this going this afternoon.

Let us know how it works.

Think I’m asking Santa for the Amazon Cube 4K if this works out as hassle free as it sounds.

I have roku..not sure if this is even the same thing as you all are chatting about....

So I spent about an hour yesterday after school setting up the Fire Stick.

Un. Freaking. Believable.

Used a service called Troy Point. Added a movie app and player that allows me to watch movies that are out in the theater right now as well as thousands of others. 1080p. I watched a bit of Aquaman yesterday.

Access to hundreds of channels. Put Kodi on the stick, as well. Going to go home today and add on the app that allows me to watch Sunday Ticket as well as NBA pass, MLB Extra Innings and the NHL package.

All this and I am probably middle of the road when it comes to being tech savvy.

I'll get back as to my success with the sports over the weekend.

Wow.

Awesome.

Question: is there any sort of guide or channel listing or anything that lists the programming?

Question: pr0n? You know, just in case I need to set parental filters or controls. Yeah, that’s the ticket!

Completely agree. I know a lot about computers and stuff but would love to know how he got this going.

When you get it all done 64 please let us know what you did.

got a 4 k tv, so I really want 4 k porn?

whole new meaning to shoot your eye out

Haven't researched the pr0n yet.

Troy point has a website with you tube videos and screen shots for every step. I had to reinstall a few features and some of the menus on my fire stick were different from the ones on the tutorials but I somehow got it done.

Been researching during study hall (and now lunch) the sports add on for Kodi. Excited to get home and install.

I did use a VPN which is supposed to allow faster speeds with less (if any) buffering.

There isn't really a program guide but you can search in each of the apps for shows or channels.

The Cinema app (forget the name) paired with an HD player is amazing. It allows you to download movies. Legally, you can only download movies that exist in public domains. But with the VPN, I don't know what is visible.

I chose the Boston location for my VPN hoping to access Boston locals but so far - no good. I'll keep working on it.

I'll keep you up to date.
