Mark-Almon Band - "One Way Sunday" from the early 70's, great tune about life on the road:

I forgot about that one, RN. Nice.

Any Rory Gallagher fans? Rory @ Harpo's Detroit back in '84 was probably the best concert I have ever seen. Anyhow, here's some Gallagher mastery on display.

Good stuff TIP, and those tunes reminded me of this very classy number from Joe Jackson:

Ah, yes. Louie Prima and Keely Smith.
He was the entertainer & she was the singer.
The original Sonny and Cher (although Louie had great rhythm & a voice that grew on you).
Great, great memories of my parents learning to jive in the living room.
Just watch Keely checking out Louie's moves here. So funny.

Louie also knew music & wrote great songs & music. This is a piece he originally wrote for Benny Goodman but liked it so much he recorded it a year before giving it to Goodman. This is Benny Goodman's version of "Sing, Sing, Sing" with Gene Krupa on the drums used in the '93 movie "Swing Kids". Imagine how long it would take to learn this from sheet music - it blows my mind. (I should've included this in my 'Greatest Songs' post) It was also used in "Mask".

Prima wrote "Sing, Sing, Sing". Gifted icon of swing.

Yes, Prima wrote Sing, Sing, Sing.

However, the version you put up there is the very well-known Benny Goodman version. Goodman and his band evolved the song, over many months of performances, from Prima's version to the classic that was used in the movie "Swing Kids" (which is where that clip came from; it's a very good movie).

The music (some of the dance scenes) were really good, but the rest of the movie, the coming of age in the shadow of tthe third reich seemed rather melodramatic and little else. jmo.

Yes, I know. Goodman made it famous and that's the version most people know in large part due to Gene Krupas' sensational drum skills. Imagine what the sheet music to that looks like.

It was also used in "Mask" in '94, a year after "Swing Kids".

Great clip and music, thanks Chev and TIP for all that info, I'll have to check the movie out too - great dancing....!

Great song indeed, RN.

In that same Billy emulates Peter Green vein .... Duane emulates Peter Green:
