Gamete Thread - Saints @ Patriots - Sun. Sept. 26 1PM (FOX)

You know 18 months ago I would have agreed with you, but the problem is that it's just not true at all, none of it is. Anyone that watched yesterdays Bucs game and came away thinking Brady is in decline is just in denial. I'm sorry but your just kidding yourself at this point, where is the decline exactly? Arm strength? No, he can make any throw on the field still and actually his arm looks stronger than it did in his first couple of seasons. Accuracy? Still one of the most accurate QB's in the league by a lot. Pocket presence? Nope still as smooth operating in the pocket as he's ever been and can read defenses faster than he probably ever has. Now if you want to make the argument that he will decline that's fine, but there simply is no objective evidence that he is anything less than a top 5 QB right now. So to me that really begs the question as to WTF Bill Belichick is doing, he claims he always makes the decision that's best for the team, well then how is it that the best QB to ever play the game is not leading the Patriots right now? I think you are like many of us Patriot fans that want to still believe in Bill, I sure did, but the fact of the matter is that the decisions Bill has made for this team recently, have been catastrophically bad. We are not a better team right now than we were last year, and that is all on Bill, his decisions have brought the team here.
Did you watch them struggle to get past 14 points last night? No way Brady is in his prime like from 2003-2006 or 2014-2017. No way. There are also 2 different Bradys. I agree his arm has never been an issue like morons claim. It's his feet and the speed in which he's not as sharp as his prime years. His ego is far gone, he'd never admit it, but this is huge reason why BB walked. Brady became uncoachable, which is why Garoppolo was drafted. So, this goes back years. Mentally, I think he's locked in with the fire lit, sure. I just think their defense sucks which helps the Pats offense on Sunday. There's more to the sport than what the QB does.

11-5 in 2018, 12-4 in 2019, 11-5 in 2020. Still very, very good, but not in his prime. He also still struggles on deep balls and always did. Again, his last 2 rings had way more to do with his defenses and RBs than Brady himself. That can't be debated. He needs all the help he can get as father time slowly creeps in with Giselle on his shoulder.

I mean, in 2019 and even last year, every game NE won minus the game in Miami with Antonio Brown, the D and STs won all of those games. TB lost last night because of awful D allowing 30 points per game like it's a slam dunk. It takes a balanced roster and 53 to win a SB. We shall see how long TB has that.

I agree with the bolded parts. Give him the help and he can lead any team to a win but he can't carry a team the way he once could.
We've seen plenty of games against great defenses where he didn't play very well. The 2 Giants SB's come to mind immediately. His D didn't help him much last night for sure.

Well, she did say Sony Michel was a bust after being beaten out by Harris last year... so yeah.
I'll never understand the logic why some fans want to get rid of good players, because the next may appear a bit better. Why weaken a strength? Why not have 2 good versions of it? I'll never understand the scapegoating with some Pats fans with personnel like that. Hopefully, Stevenson can step up here. Enough with the training wheels already. I get being conservative, but they need to open it up here.

Exactly. It's not about fantasy stat collection for Tom Brady. An entire 2 generations now thinks yardage accumulation equates to very good QB play. It doesn't necessarily. Brady played ok last night, but if he had a D, he would have won. Rams used clock and did what they wanted controlling the game from the outset.

Brady choosing to go to an All Star set up after years of top 10 picks in TB knowing he'd look good compared to a rebuild here, is smart of him short term, but long term it won't last with their cap.

For sure. I think at this point I'm willing to take a missed assignment or two as long as we don't have to see Bolden walk with the ball again.

He ought to absolutely great by the time he's 65. :coffee:

I've been too busy to weigh in yet, or read this entire thread, but I'm sure whatever I posted has already been mentioned, so I won't bother.

At this point, it doesn't appear there is any way we won't get curb-stomped by Tampa, so we're looking down the barrel at 1 and 3, which is not a good place to be.

I will say that we've won 6 Super Bowls in the last couple of decades and in the 2001 season our record was 1-3. We also had a couple of 2-2s in the mix, so the Pats
have often times started slowly and finished much better and while comparing this team to our Super Bowl winning teams is pretty far-fetched, I can't see any reason
that we could get our shit together and stop playing dumb football, because it's happened multiple times. That's all the evidence I need.

I maintain that we are building a monster and that violent thunder and lightning storm we need to revive the corpse shouldn't be too far off even if the forecast calls for unseasonably sunny, dry weather.

We will figure this out people. We've been in this exact situation too many times to count and I'm not going to have a breakdown over a shitty game where almost nothing
went right and we looked like a bad football team that will be lucky to win 5 games. Let Felger rant and dance, I'm not fazed by that beating.

I'll also mention that the halftime ceremony was well done and I think Jules was touched by the fan's appreciation and that he got the kind of public sendoff that his
outstanding career deserved.

I was a bit misty-eyed watching, but my wife was crying buckets and she didn't have her normal kleenex supply handy due to gate restrictions on women's bags,
which, we discovered, meant that a 7.5 inch wristlet was not allowable, despite being purchased at the Gillette Pro Shop with the Patriots official logo all over it. However,
a 6.5 inch one would have been fine and the crack security team simply couldn't allow such a potentially dangerous breach of protocol and we got to do the sucker's walk
back to the truck through hordes of people coming the other way. Being at her first Pats game, my wife could not process my instructions to stay on my hip and follow my
precision lead blocking.

that bag restriction is one of many reasons it is likely i will never go to another game in person.

I will say that the blitz pickup highlight reel play by Sony was, just wow.

Then, I don't suppose there is any point in me begging. ;)

The thing is, when walking back to the truck (about an extra mile total) she got mad at ME for not knowing the details of that stupid policy. Like that is part of my normal gameday concerns. I told her to grab a clear bag before we left, but she didn't care for everybody seeing her personal care products or something. Too add to the story, we were told by security that we could use a locker to store the bag, for the low, low price of 20 bucks and that would've required a slightly shorter walk to the other end of the stadium and back. The whole thing was a huge pain in the ass.

With any luck, she'll decide that she's had enough of the Gillette experience because football is just not in her wheelhouse. I don't feel the need to go to quilting with her and her buddies.

Oh, you best believe Brady's choice was tied to ego and stats to satisfy that part. Oh yes. He chose TB over Chicago for obvious reasons. TB had far, far better weapons on offense. Of course it's a serious quote. His decision to move on at the end was about his ego. Get over it already. He spent the last 3 years in NE selling avacado books and creepy Facebook docs to promote the idea he plays all the positions and plays D and STs and it was all about him because everyone in his circle had been telling him how great he was even after diarrhea running down his leg during postseasons and SBs vs the Giants. Brady was never wrong even if BB showed him how bad his game management was during that time.

You believing BB didn't not want Brady or possibly not want Mr. Giselle about 7 years ago, means you're naive and not paying attention. Who felt what and when does BB no good during a press conference now in 2021.

Just get over it already. BB walked, Kraft agreed and the team's future is not about catering to the back end of Mr. Giselle's legacy. It's not about one guy.

It’s not as bad as you think.... the funny part is if you wear a coat /jacket as hubby or my kids have with pockets you will get anything you want to put in a bag/ purse in.
