The NFL 2023 Draft

Kinda surprised that the Pats didn't grab an OT on Day 2.

Hopefully Day 3 trends more towards offence with the picks.

BB has stayed true to his defensive roots so far with CB, DE and LB/S as his first 3 picks. It may have to do with BPA or current players who's contracts are ending.

Whatever the reason, imo it's time to address the offense now.

...the Patriots used their top three draft picks on defenders -- Oregon cornerback Christian Gonzalez (No. 17, first round), Georgia Tech pass rusher Keion White (No. 46, second round) and Sacramento State linebacker/safety Marte Mapu (No. 76, third round).

Belichick said that wasn't necessarily the plan entering the draft, adding: "It just worked out that way ... there are a lot of different ways to build a team. This is one part of it. Free agency was part of it [and we] didn't sign a lot of defensive players in free agency. Most of the signings were on offense."

Day 3 has me looking at WRs, TEs, OTs and iOLs in no particular order.

Looking at OTs still in the draft there is Dawand Jones Ohio State at 6'8" 374 lbs. He reminds me of Trent Brown but has only plays ROT.
Blake Freeland BYU 6'8" 302 has good athleticism but needs time in the weight room.
Carter Warren Pitt. 6'5" 311lbs is a good player in need of good coaching. His big question is how healthy is he.

I’m not upset about all the picks going to defense despite the holes on offense. These guys seem good. This could be the best corner BB has ever drafted, and in the current NFL the d line is as important as the QB position. Many of us remember the “can he rush the passer years”.
The Patriots need a true number one WR, but I really don’t think there was one in this draft. Unfortunately this just wasn’t the offseason to address that need, and I’m glad it wasnt forced. There was a true number one corner, and now he’s a Patriot.
I don’t trust BBs ability to evaluate mid round WRs, and I think the team is pretty well stocked with them. I’m hoping they avoid the position the rest of the draft. I don’t know much about who’s left at TE, but I’m hoping there’s a gem they can still find.
The only bad thing about going all defense is that it is an offensive league now, especially with the way the refs call things. It doesn’t take much imagination to see mahomes, or Rodgers making a fisted tugging motion in the fourth quarter of a close game and getting a flag and first down.
So we will see. I have to say though so far this is my favorite pats draft since they doubled up on Hightower and jones in the first round.

His weight is likely the reason, so he plays a little slow.
Likely. There's a reason why Onwenu dropped to the 5th for example.
I'm also not going to cry if they use one of these 4ths on a 350-lb Samoan 1-tech DT here at some point either. They still need that guy.

Gonzalez was one of those splashy sexy picks. Those round 2 picks are solid for our infrastructure which are also needed. All were for the D.
I'm ready for some splashy sexy picks and infrastructure picks for the offense now.

Guys I'm watching out for today and as UDFAs:
WR Charlie Jones - Purdue (My binky this year. Not very big, tall or super fast. 5'11", 180-ish, 4.43/40. But insanely productive, 110 catches for 1,361 & 12 TDs in 2022)
WR Derius Davis - TCU (A poor man's Tank Dell. Very small but extremely fast. 4.36/40 and plays even faster. Excellent kick & punt return skills too)
WR Matt Landers - Arkansas
WR A.T. Perry - Wake Forest
WR Andrei Iosivas - Princeton
P Adam Korzak - Rutgers (only if he's a left-footed punter, which I don't know)
CB/FS Kelee Ringo - Georgia (Frankly I have no idea how he fell this far)
CB/FS Darius Rush - South Carolina
CB/FS Cory Trice - Purdue
QB Max Haener - Fresno State (He did a QB whiteboard show w/ Steve Mariucci. The dude was very impressive)
FS Daniel Scott - Cal
C/G Olusegun Oluwatimi- Michigan (Outland Trophy winner and anchor to Michigan's excellent O-line)
QB Max Duggar - TCU (Tough & competitive as all hell)

UDFAs:
C/G Alan Ali - TCU
C/G Ahofitu Maka - UTSA
C/G Antonio Mafi - UCLA
G/T McClendon Curtis - Tenn-Chattanooga
T Ryan Hayes - Michigan
