The 2023 Patriots Preseason Period

JuJu Smith-Schuster had a great day — he caught 6 passes from Mac Jones and a touchdown from Bailey Zappe.

• Ezekiel Elliott was a full participant and he even caught 3 passes out of the backfield — he repped behind Rhamondre Stevenson.

• Kendrick Bourne made an impressive hand-eye coordination play when he caught a pass that was deflected by Marcus Jones.

• Thyrick Pitts made an awesome 45-yard TD catch on a jump ball over Christian Gonzalez — Bailey Zappe threw the deep ball.

• Malik Cunningham had a nice touchdown catch delivered by Bailey Zappe in 11s.

• Due to injuries, Thyrick Pitts and Malik Cunningham saw many reps.

• Myles Bryant took reps as a boundary corner.

• Calvin Munson read a play nicely in 11s and came away with the interception.

• Marcus Jones had a very nice day — Jones had a couple of PBUs and was doing very well in coverage.

• Myles Bryant intercepted Mac Jones while the offense was running a 1-minute drill.

• Keion White left practice early and did not return.

• Chad Ryland missed 3 straight FGs at one point, with 1 missing the kicking net entirely — he later ended a 2-minute drill with a FG right down the middle.

We’ve released Tre Nixon. We’ve claimed some DL from Carolina.
If Nixon passes through waivers, he’ll revert to IR.

I really like the McCall signing. After watching the Packers game I thought, besides the OL, that NT was the biggest weakness on the team. McCall, should be a better fit for the Patriots then he was for the Panthers, and at the very least he's better than Davis. The Pats have the week to decide if they need to pick anyone else up at cut downs.

Why are Pats limting Douglas plays in pre-season. They been treating him like a starter. He will be last on depht chart. When the regular season begins.

I remember a bunch of people here, plus Lazar & Barth, being pretty high on McCall coming into that draft. He was the yuge guy from Kentucky.

They are treating him like he has made the team. He has unique skills on this roster. I bet he is 4th on the depth chart right now with Thornton and Boutte 5th and 6th. Or 6th and 5th. I have read several articles describing his treatment as "hiding him". Doubt that. If we know, the other 31 teams know. More likely they are protecting him.

He has made the team it appears. I am excited to see him perform. Number one priority now heading into Friday is health.

That all depends if they carry 6 WR's .BB prefers to carry 5 WR's. Do they give Boutee the Foxboro flu . Put Thornton on the IR designate.

I have no idea. Forced to guess I would think Thornton gets the flu.

Bourne and Pop have shown more in one summer than Thornton has in two.

Thornton on IR designate doesn't save you from exposing Doubgas or Boutte to the waiver wire. Thornton still has to make the 53 to be designated to return, and you'll likely still have to risk losing Douglas or Boutte to being claimed.

Bottom line is that they have to carry 6 WRs on opening day if they want to keep all three Patriots.

Its not hard. Take the least desirable roster spot on someone who WON'T get claimed on waivers, let them go, then IR TT after the final roster cutdowns. Then, bring back said stiff and there you go.

For a minute there, I thought we were going to lose the stiff. :coffee:
