Muhammad Ali versus Mike Tyson.

Prime Ali beats prime Tyson 7 out of 10 matches. I saw both of them. Tyson would win 3 with 1 lucky devastating punch. But Ali would use his skill as a boxer to win 7.
Ali really was the greatest and he changed boxing.
Btw, who is the Heavy Weight Champ now? I have no idea.
But everyone knew who Ali was. Everyone.

I did not see Ali in his prime but I have seen all of his fights.

Ali probably wins 6/7 out of 10 - all by decision.
Mike would have to win by knockout; I don't see him winning by a decision over Ali.

Ali gets the nod in what might be the greatest imaginary bout in this history of our minds. But it is very, very close.

Tyson would kill Frasier.
Im not sure about that.

Norton, Foreman, Frasier and Ali were all great fighters. add Lyle and you have some bad men in the ring _ Ill never add Holmes.

Tyson on Foreman

Tyson would have been another in a long list of great heavyweights in Ali’s era.
Agree with the assessment Joe Frazier was a close duplicate of Tyson.

George Foreman was always considered the most powerful puncher in boxing history. I found George a little bit on the slow side, and Ali took a vantage of that…. Mike Tyson was blazing fast and powerful. And a much better boxer than people realize.

OH I Love Tyson. More so as time goes on and I realize how good of a fighter he was.

plus he has pigeons.

Some of Ali's popularity and recognition is not just his boxing but also his political and religious stances. He transcended the sport like no other.

Me too. He was like Tiger for me. Many people who never followed golf, started watching because of Tiger. I never liked boxing but when Tyson emerged, I could not take my eyes off of him. He was electric in every sense of the word ...

Ernie Shavers might have something to say about punching power.

Depends when Ali and when Tyson. 1965 Ali would never give him anything to hit. We saw how 70s Ali did with George Foreman (another incredible heavyweight btw) and his power, would be the closest comp to Tyson, although Tyson was faster, and he had a lethal jab - 80s Tyson. 90s Tyson wasn't as fast, but outside of the earbiting, he actually became a better boxer. Razor Ruddick took him to a decision the 2nd fight before he went to jail.

Ali had a tough time taking Foreman's punches, but he did take them, and tired the big man out late. Tyson wasn't nearly as big, and I'd say he was more powerful than Foreman (and ask Michael Moorer about Foreman's power).

I do wonder if this is a Jordan/Lebron thing, where everyone who watched Jordan knows Jordan was better, but the kids don't. Admittedly, I caught the very, very tail end of Ali when he could barely talk anymore. Trevor Burbick beat Ali in his last fight, and Tyson destroyed him, but that's not really much of a good comp either.
Those Ruddock fights were absolute wars. Tyson earned big props for his ability to take punishment and keep coming. Razor was an absolute banger Tyson took shots that would have floored anyone else. Ruddock was never the same after those fights.

Tyson = Frazier.

Prime Ali was the greatest
No chance. The only way Frazier would beat Tyson is if they somehow got into a Hagler/Hearns situation, and Frazier caught him with a hook, although I think Tyson would just be too fast for him in that case.

This is great.

Sometimes, only sometimes, like for your greatest love, other people can be your greatest motivation.

Thanks, Piggy. This is excellent.
