  • BOSTON (AP) — A man who survived a deadly 2012 drive-by shooting in Boston has identified former New England Patriots star Aaron Hernandez as the triggerman.
  • Prosecutors on Tuesday asked Raychides Sanches to describe the chaotic scene during a hearing in Suffolk Superior Court. When asked who the shooter was, Sanches said "Hernandez" and nodded in his direction.Sanches made the identification at a pretrial hearing for Hernandez, who is charged in the deaths of Safiro Furtado and Daniel de Abreu.

Prosecutors say Hernandez gunned down the men after one of them bumped into him at a nightclub. He has pleaded not guilty.
Hernandez already is serving a life sentence for the 2013 killing of Odin Lloyd.

I was watching this until the side bar, crazy ass stuff and that guy hopefully makes it to the New Year.

And here I was thinking Christmas would be wishful thinking. :sulk:

It potentially has salary cap implications.

From Miguel.

If Aaron Hernandez is convicted for crimes that occurred before July, 2012 (example – the July 16, 2012 murders of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado) the Patriots would then be able to go after the $12.5 million signing bonus because Aaron would have then violated the clause where he represented and warranted that there weren’t any existing circumstances when he signed his deal that would prevent his continuing availability throughout the contract and the clause that explicitly states that the Patriots wouldn’t have entered into the contract except for Hernandez’s representations. Once again, I have to note that any cap credit is for the actual cash recouped so if Aaron has spent most of his signing bonus money on lawyer fees or to settle civil cases against him it is likely that the only credits that the Patriots may ever get is the $3.25 million signing bonus that they withheld in March, 2014

So this could be worth $3.25M credit towards the cap, if I understand Miguel correctly.

Judge: Hernandez tattoos can be used as evidence

The tattoos of former New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez can be admitted as evidence in his upcoming double murder trial, a judge ruled.

Hernandez is charged with killing two men in a 2012 drive-by shooting, because one of the men bumped into the former football star in a Boston nightclub, prosecutors sai

Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to killing 29-year-old Daniel de Abreu and 28-year-old Safiro Furtado. His trial is scheduled to start in February.

Hernandez had tattoos done soon after the victims were killed that link him to the slayings, prosecutor Patrick Haggan told the judge.

One is of a revolver with five bullets in the chamber and one missing, which prosecutors allege represents the five shots fired into the car occupied by the victims. They also pointed to a tattoo that reads "God Forgives," but is written backward so it becomes clear only when read in a mirror.

Ronald Sullivan, one of Hernandez's attorneys, called the prosecution's theory "speculation," and "inference," and said allowing jurors to hear about the tattoos would be a violation of Hernandez's constitutional right to a fair trial.

He's already behind bars for the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd.
