101. Bobby Evans T Oklahoma - swing Tackle nasty

107. Darell Henderson RB Memphis - insane production. 27 runs 20+ yards.

134. Will Harris S BC - great size S in pipeline

205. Drew Sample TE Washington - highest grade run blocking TE

239. Ty Summers LB Texas Christian - speed and + coverage LBer

243. Hunter Renfrow WR Clemson - slot only with plus hands minus athleticism

No QB?

WOW,,
How many binkies of yours did you get?
Lawrence plus two WR s?

Blocking plus pass catching TEs,,

I can not mock your Mock.

No issues at all.

A few questions though.
What players were available at 32 that you gave up?
What other WRs/players were available at 73 where you picked up Isabella?
What other TEs/players were available at 97 (Warring)? He's a project.
Sample is a very good blocking TE, no argument at all. Couldn't BB use Izzo for that or bring in an OL to do the same thing, at least on short yardage/RZ situations?
If Tyree Jackson were available somewhere in the 97 range I might gamble on his huge upside.
No Irv Smith which I find refreshing.

Btw, I'm hearing rumblings that Gronk is open to returning the bye week. No decision but he's thinking about it while he's having fun.

Pats Pulpit mock

Here were the results (click here to watch the video on Apple News):
32. Jerry Tillery, EDGE — Notre Dame
56. Dexter Lawrence, IDL — Clemson
64. Deionte Thompson, S — Alabama
73. Kelvin Harmon, WR — NC State
97. Mecole Hardman, WR — Gerogia
101. Kahale Warring, TE — San Diego St.
134. Bobby Evans, T — Oklahoma
205. Cameron Smith, LB - USC
239. Derrick Baity, CB — Kentucky
243. Jalen Hurd, WR — Baylor
246. Cece Jefferson, EDGE — Florida
252. Terez Hall, LB — Missouri
Yes. I know. Dexter Lawrence at 56 is wild. But, that’s how the board fell. If the Patriots passed on a talent like him at 56, it would potentially top the long list of draft surprises in the Belichick era. I am not that ballsy, so I opted to re-tool the team’s defensive line for the next four to five years.
As good as Lawrence at pick 56 is, Harmon at 73 is the true steal of this draft, and I still landed Mecole Hardman and Kahale Warring. Nasty.
Let us know what you think of the picks!

I didn’t do a full league mock. I only projected players generallly thought to be available based off ranking sites and results of about 100 mocks via generators.

I’ll address each question though.

No issues at all.

A few questions though.
What players were available at 32 that you gave up?

About the only 2 players I’d prefer to Dexter that’d realistically be potentially available are Butler and Simmons, and I think they’re both gone so I do a slight trade, still get my guy, and land an additional in a home run threat RB

What other WRs/players were available at 73 where you picked up Isabella?

In no exact order I have Metcalf, Butler, Brown, Harry going before 73. Imo Isabella is an explosive impact guy and my #2, so it’s fit plus ranking

What other TEs/players were available at 97 (Warring)? He's a project.

I have TJ and Fant long gone. Not a Smith fan(see below), and maybe a lower floor but higher ceiling than Oliver and Sterburger. With Warring I think he’s an ascending guy, relatively new to the game, but a true multi sport athlete(basketball and water polo) that will bring a unique skill set and he’s developing from a run heavy offense. A project that may redshirt but we have time with roster and potential Gronk playoff return.

Sample is a very good blocking TE, no argument at all. Couldn't BB use Izzo for that or bring in an OL to do the same thing, at least on short yardage/RZ situations?

I have no idea how Bill feels about the TE pipeline. ASJ can be an effective playmaker, and Sample can try and fill the Allen role if what we have is not adequate.

If Tyree Jackson were available somewhere in the 97 range I might gamble on his huge upside.

Maybe. I think TB wants all the records. Which means about 3 more seasons. Not a need.

No Irv Smith which I find refreshing.

Doesnt stand out physically. I think as a result his impact at the next level will diminish.

Btw, I'm hearing rumblings that Gronk is open to returning the bye week. No decision but he's thinking about it while he's having fun.

Great!

I'd be quite happy with your mock.

Modest alterations - I'd consider Miles Boykin instead of Isabella and I'd definitely take Jalen Hurd over Hunter Renfrow.

I know Boykin’s your guy. I just don’t think the mediocre numbers will grow against even better corners.

I could see Hurd. Seems like a CP replacement. I went Renfrow for another slot option. He’s a Welker clone.

I don't usually mock someone mock , but you asked.

First what make you think TB would trade? Who were they looking for? Also that is not good value for trading a 1st round pick. TB should have given up a 2nd this year and a 2nd last year.

I like the first 4 players picked. Warring is not ready for the NFL this year. Kaden Smith or even Gentry were gone? And 2 RB's? The one position we are good is RB. Would have liked to see, an outside WR rather than 2 slots. If I were picking 2 slot, one would be a KR/PR guy like Godwin or Penny Hart.

:toast:

Tillery has all the tools. The question about him is commitment to the game, he has many outside interest according to a couple of draft guides. You nailed your next 3 picks. I have doubts about Warring though.

I don't dance very often but if Evans was there at 134, I would.

Maybe a QB at 32? Lock? It’s all speculation. Fvck. Nobody that projects a trade has actual confirmation. And yet there’s a dozen.

Also that is not good value for trading a 1st round pick. TB should have given up a 2nd this year and a 2nd last year.

Wrong. 32 = 590. 39 = 510. 107 = 80. A perfect match.

I like the first 4 players picked. Warring is not ready for the NFL this year. Kaden Smith or even Gentry were gone?

I know. Warring is a developmental project. ASJ can handle the role this year. When he leaves Warring is ready. Those other guys blow, though I’d consider Gentry in 7th as a blocker.

And 2 RB's? The one position we are good is RB.

We have nobody like either back. Henderson had 27 runs of 20+ yards. That’s insane! Barnes is a north/south bulldozer.

Would have liked to see, an outside WR rather than 2 slots. If I were picking 2 slot, one would be a KR/PR guy like Godwin or Penny Hart.

Isabella is an outside receiver. Lazy people are penciling him at slot, but that’s not where he produced. Steve Smith was 5’9”. Should they have put him at slot and left him?

Tillery has major off field character issues.

Off my board.

I agree with you on all the guys I mocked to us. :dith:

Seriously, I think Lawrence is really impressive, but I think we're OK there and Bill won't want to deal with a 1st round guy who is primarily a run-stuffer. He's really good at bull rushing IOLs back into the pocket, so maybe you're right, but I skipped him because of his PED bust. I remember the cautionary tale of Tony Mandarich and don't trust what an Ostarine-free Lawrence will play like.

Your running back Henderson runs great, but he doesn't pass-block and I take that as a Cardinal (the Papist kind, not Arizona) rule of Billy the Brain that he just won't play a RB if he could get Brady killed.

I love a lot of your guys and could only dream that it'll turn out like that. It would be fucking insane. One guy I've been wanting to talk about is Renfrow.

It's one of the biggest true cliches in the NFL that the Pats like smurfy white slot guys and here comes Renfrow. Thing is, he's been tremendous for years and yet he gets dinged for the same exact same things that all our Keebler elves have and he might actually turn out to be comparable to Welker and Edelman down the road even though he looks like a guy that works at a Flower Shop.

I think the Pats have helped the league embrace diversity and several other teams have discovered that little honkies that can flat-out catch the rock really do matter and should be given a fair chance to make a living, but it's going to take some time for acceptance to become more commonplace.

I don't even care what his numbers are. I've seen enough of him to want him.

Dexter got busted for Osterine. It’s not a steroid per se. It’s a SARM - Selective Androgen Receptor Modulator. It targets the same pathway as steroids, but does not cause harm to organs like steroids do. I’ll give him a pass. Take a look at your screen. They’re all on something. He’s faster, quicker, stronger, and more explosive than Vince. And Bill dropped 21 on the big fella. He’ll spend 32, or 39, on Dex.

I just can’t get past Henderson’s production. 27 runs of 20+ yds. That’s insane! Next closest was 1 guy with 18 (still impressive) and then some guys with 13. That’s almost double. It’s speed, quicks, elusiveness, vision, the whole kit and kaboodle. Let’s see if Fears can do something wrt pass blocking.

Let everyone ignore the diminutive white guy WRs. We can take them all!

No issues at all.

No Irv Smith which I find refreshing. Agreed.

On Izzo, I was thinking they would want three TEs on game day, two of which would be blocking TEs. I don't have a good feel for these new TEs just brought in. ASJ is always injured, LaCrosse, Anderson are not known for their blocking are they?

ASJ is a talented guy who hasn't reached his potential because of QBs and offensive schemes. McD can better utilize him in our O. He's a willing blocker - avg to just above avg in my mind - with the size and strength to improve as an inline blocker. 6'5", 265. He's the closest we have to a complete TE - receiver with blocking ability.

Blocking specialist
Ryan Izzo is our blocking TE. He's tough and is known to have very good inline blocking skills which is why BB spent a 7th on him last year. 6'5", 255. Good write up on him here: http://www.nepatriotsdraft.com/2018/05/post-draft-scouting-report-ryan-izzo-te-and-udfas.html

Move TEs
Jacob Hollister is a move TE who has shown receiving skills and a willingness to use his 6'4", 245 frame to block but he's not known as a blocker. 2" taller and same weight as Hernandez who wasn't a good blocker either.
LaCosse is a move TE with exceptionally good hands. He played H-Back in college. He's not a blocking TE. Denver used him as a reserve receiving TE. He needs to gain leg strength to become a blocker. 6'6", 245.
Stephen Anderson is another move TE/WR hybrid at 6'2", 230. He has very good hands and he's our fastest, most athletic TE with a 4.58 40. He was an UDFA with the Texans so there's the Bill O'Brien recommendation. At 230 lbs he's not blocking much.

Henderson can also dish out some punishment on his runs. There is more to his running stats other than breaking free into the open. Be interesting to see how he does as a pro.
