/am glad I have a PO Box
We don't like PO boxes either!
But I know you're in the boonies so you got good reason.
PO boxes put carriers out of work.

The door on the left is our post office. The gas station is bigger than it.
One of these days, P4E and I are gonna find decent work. And then we'll return to our normal selves. I only do what i do to put food on the table. If I had another choice, I'd have taken it.
For those that don't know, P4E and myself became "Transitional Letter Carriers" when we lost jobs back in '08. Don't get me wrong, the job itself isn't that bad, my old man was a carrier for more than 30 years. It's all the bullshit that comes with it that drives ya nuts. Believe me, this is one of the WORST run companies probably in all of history. I am not the least bit surprised they are losing billions.
That's awesome. I keep telling the Mrs. that I was meant for small town life.
Had my brakes done the other day...
The youngest boy turned one the other day so the 4 of us were gonna go grab a bite and then take the kids to the toy store. Go out, start the car, pop the trunk, run inside to grab one of the strollers, plop it back in the trunk, then run back inside to change while the car warms up. Hear a weird bang outside. Look out the window...
My car rolled down my driveway and (thankfully) into a huge snow bank across the street. My neighbor had a friend visiting and that that snow bank not been there, it would have crunched the guy against his van.
My car's a 5-speed so to let it warm up, I obviously have to have the car in neutral with the E-break up. Called the mechanic, he was pretty apologetic. He has been a solid go-to guy for about 5-6 years now. I think he F'd up when he was replacing my front calipers and that is the result of this. Car seems ok, he'll look it over for me to be sure when he checks the E-break.
But I am most thankful that no one got hurt. This is beyond F'ing belief to me. In the meantime, I picked up a case of beer and a bottle of wine for my neighbor for scaring the shit out of him, his friend and their entire household. He was pretty cool about the whole thing. Even though it wasn't my fault, per say, I wouldn't have blamed him if he had been more steamed.
My heart's still pounding.

Decided to go electric for brewing over propane.
Propane is LOUD and cant be done in my kitchen if safety is kept in mind, did I mention propane is LOUD!
Got the kettle ready and put a 240V 4500 watt element in it.
Made up a heat sink, got two SSR's so I could split the legs of the 240V and built a really nice work box using a plastic tool box that I havent used in for ever. Wired up the relays, thermocouple and control.
Put in a switch so I can turn off the 240..........cause that shit will kill you.
Tied it into our generator circuit with a twist lock plug.
All this is controlled via a proportional–integral–derivative controller , PID for short.
Plugged it in and fired it up, HAPPY BOY!
I'm brewing in the AM....................................NOT
See the "controller" doesnt control, fvcking thing runs wide open
There is an issue with the PID so now I need to order one up before I can use my new rig.
I want to cry :Eason:
See the little square box mounted on the toolbox........thats the devil
And shit like that thar is why I still partial mash with a 3 gallon kettle and a 1 gallon sparging pot. Stovetop Rocks!

I'll be boiling stovetop tommorow.
Going to make a braggot, only need about 4 gallons of wort for that.
SUCKS because I was brewing this in the AM
Nice!
That IBU is off the hook!
Can you say HOPS?????!!!!
I love a great herbal hops and these fit the bill!
Dammit I am ****ing pissed off.........................
All that designing, running aroung getting parts
**** me
Nothing wrong with stovetop. And you WILL get the electric system running. Its just a matter of some revision and testing before you attempt your next batch in it.
Shit it runs now but 4500 watts continuous will give me a boil off in the neighborhood of around 50%
I'll be making LME if I try to brew now
I have a control knob that can handle 15 AMP wired up and ready to go. No probe just a simple rotary switch............ problem, the 4500 watt element puts out 18.75 AMP's.
I dont feel like starting a fire.............................
****, if Lowes or Home Depot carried the things I'd pack up the kids and be there at 6AM
Well, either brew on a breaker, or wait till Monday to get the knob, or its stovetop time.
I'd brew off a 20 amp breaker direct, using less than max on the knob, like 3/4 or less, and you will be fine. There is a factor of safety built into these things and you could get away with it. But do it outside, just in case, or hit the stovetop and wait till monday...bummer.
The E brake is a mechanical brake that works via cable and lever to engage your REAR brakes. Did your mechanic work on them too? It sounds like he failed to connect the cable system to the brakes?
At least all ended not horribly.
