OT - Mass. Lawmakers To Consider Spanking Ban

This is fun.
So, if you live in Attleboro and want to spank your kid, you can put them in the car and beat them senseless in Cumberland.

This exacts an extreme prejudice against people in Chatham.

Did you have to use Attleboro (my hometown) in your example?...but you do raise a good point.

I'm not sure I ever was. In my case, the threat always did the trick. If we were out, dad would just say "We'll talk about this when we get home." and that was enough. The dread of the actual beating that never came did the trick.

Later when I was being an idiotic rebellious 16 year old he through me up against the wall once. DOes that count?

I dunno, what's the milage before it becomes international waters?

This is what you get when you live in the Soviet Socialist Nanny State of Mass.

In another 40 years, the state will run every aspect of people's lives, all people will live only government approved lifestyles regulating eating, drinking, what you drive, what you wear, what kind of home you live in, what your children are taught to believe, your personal values, what you can say, what you can name your children, what religion your allowed to refer to in public or expose your children to, what perfumes, deodorants, soaps and colognes you can wear, if any, and what you can do on your property regarding signs, plants, lawns, animals, etc...it will go on and on.

Orwellianism is alive and well in MA.

While I think this law is absolutely ridiculous, I will say this much. I think there should be something against doing that stuff in public. (with a child that is :D )

I have no desire to watch someone whack they're kid while I'm sitting down at a restaurant, or shopping for something. If you're kid's misbehaving, take them somewhere out of the way for the discipline. My opinion anyway.

I think my mother slapped me across the face once, but I forget why.

Just think of the mind games you could play...>)

I can see it now. The little boy runs out of the room after getting spanked, dials 911 and says to his parents, "I got ya now b*tches!".

Oh the horror! It's going to be a free for all.

Well, there were some days that I didn't get whacked.

I was familiar with most instruments in the household...broom, belt, pots and pans, wooden spoons, spatula, books, shoes, curtain rods, various toys...but mostly dog leashes...we had lots of dogs, so there ws always a leash within reach. the trick you hoped it was the cloth leash and not the chain one.

And HEY! Look at me! I came out great!ROFL ROFL

I can see the new study being published in the Oxford journal now linking excessive spanking to goth behaviorism.

I'll admit that many moons back, I slapped my son in public at a restaurant (I didn't hit him very hard BTW, just a slap on the wrist). There was a couple across from us that actually smiled and complimented me for it.

Personally, I think the "wait until you get home" thing tends to encourage bad behavior in public for the little ones.

Next, they'll ban all forms of spanking.

In MA, something as ridiculous as this will actually pass.
Hey, you guys got the seatbelt law thrown out, didn't you? My wife already got a ticket for not wearing one (CA), to the tune of $120. Here we protect (severely) trees and illegal immigrants. All else be damned.

I am pretty sure New Hampshire is the only New England state without the seat belt law for adults.

Yeah, but it came back anyways.

As long as I can still spank hot chicks over 18 I have no problem with it. :D
