Who is Burt Bacharach? You probably never heard of him. If you're Gen X or older, did you ever hear Dione Warwick sing "Walk on By"?

Lou Johnson sing "Always something there to Remind Me"?

Tom Jones sing "What's New Pussycat"?

BJ Thomas sing "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head"?

Christopher Cross sing "Arthur's Theme"?

Neil Diamond sing "Heartlight"?

These were ALL written by Burt Bacharach, and many, many more, many that you would recognize and remember from watching Solid Gold...lol

RIP Burt, and thank you for the legacy you left us.

So talented. I knew of his long standing relationship with Warwick but I had no idea that he wrote for so many other artists as well. As I scrolled through your post some of the lyrics of each song ran through my mind. How does one write "What's new Pussycat" for Tom Jones AND Arthur's Theme?

Wow.

This one is still stuck there....so now I need the lyrics because it gets annoying when you only know the chorus....

Once in your life you'll find her
Someone who turns your heart around
And next thing you know
You're closin' down the town

Wake up and it's still with you
Even though you left her way across town
You're wonderin' to yourself
Hey what've I found

When you get caught between the moon and New York City
I know it's crazy but it's true
If you get caught between the moon and New York City
The best that you can do (the best that you can do)
The best that you can do is fall in love

Arthur he does what he pleases
All of his life his master's toys
And deep in his heart
He's just, he's just a boy
Livin' his life one day at a time
He's showing himself a really good time
He's laughin' about the way
They want him to be

When you get caught between the moon and New York City
I know it's crazy but it's true
If you get caught between the moon and New York City
The best that you can do (the best that you can do)

Burt was one of the greatest songwriters ever. Dionne Warwick sang some of his songs, beautifully. I heard today he was 94 years old. He is one of my all-time favorites.

Oh yea, huge name from back then. He teamed up with lyricist Hal David to make it all happen.

Cilla Black doing one of their great collaborations:

You can't leave out the great lyricist Hal david when you bring up Bert and Diane. He wrote lyrics from the forties on up. The three were inextricably linked together for years, each equal partners in a grand dynamic
Hal died in 2012, a great, great lyricist.

Cheers

Auld Lang Syne

That is one of the most beautiful songs written (by Burt Bacharach), and sung by 4 of the greatest singers. I didn't know that it was written by Burt Bacharach. Thank you for posting that song.

And thank you for what you wrote about Burt and the four singers in that clip. It's important to note all the beauty that's in the world, and those that create and propagate it.
