Well he dug himself out of his +6 hole and is now -1. The leaderboard today is like musical chairs. Getting ready to play my own round, but tomorrow should be very interesting.Followed him for 9 holes here at the Rocket Classic and he simply could not miss.

I bought one of those PXG gen 5 drivers they have been advertising relentlessly and just used it at range for the first time yesterday. I really like it! I'm not good enough to get into the minutiae of a golf club, I just know this thing hit the ball suprisingly father then my prev driver - a used Cobra Radspeed Xb - that I had picked up out of the used club bin a year ago
On the Gen 5 I got the "more forgiving" model, and also I did some sizing based on my arm measurement to the floor (crease of wrist to floor) and according to all the info I found, despite being 6' tall my 34" measurement to the floor indicated a 1/4" shorter club. never quite felt comfortable with the used driver, so for the $299 sales price i figure "what the hell" and and got the PXG in 1/4" shorter lenght. I have to say, I think the sizing is better and except for one wiff (totally swung over the ball, missing it completely, then acting like I meant that as a practice swing) i was crushing it (for me). was worried shorter would mean topping it constantly but nope, worked great.
I had made a comment earlier in this thread on how it looked like Tony Finau was using kids clubs.... guess his long arms offset his height, and he sure seems to do well.
so here's the 30 players for next weekend finals. Scottie will start the tourny with a -10.

The sale supposedly ends at end of August and they go back to $499 on Sept 1st. my oldest son needs a new driver and I was trying to nonchalantly get him to measure his wrist-to-floor without giving away that I was thinking of ordering him one. he hasn't done it yet so if not soon I'm just gonna have to blurt it out and say if he wants a new driver for xmas, measure up! (he's away at college)Congrats on the new driver. The wife and I were talking about a birthday gift for our younger son and a new driver came up. I will check this one out.
No Wise probably can't win, but it's more about the payout for the guys out of the top 10. So, players who can't finish first overall, will be playing to move up for a bigger payout. We will be in Chicago for a wedding next weekend so I will not see much of this tournament. That said, I am not a big fan of this format. I can see season points leader getting an advantage to open the FedEx Cup series so that he has a better chance of surfing to the final but that is all. How does Aaron wise think he can make up 10/9/8 shots on the field of 30 guys? He can't.

PXG site says you can go to local places that they work with to get fitted (assume they mean fiddle with the weights in the driver head), so I'll check that there's something near him.
I golf lefty but both my sons golf righty, which kinda sucks in being able to try each others stuff.
considering how erratic my game is, I should probably try just swinging a few righty when I can't seem to hit anything straight my usual way!You stand on the wrong side of the ball.
Just sayin'.

So, did you bail out or hang in there? :The other day I had a tee time. Arrived at the golf course on time and my phone rang, it was the guy I was supposed to play with telling me that he couldn't make it. So, they sent me out with 2 guys that I didn't know.
Both were real nice guys and when we introduced ourselves, I found out that one was 89 years old.
He sure didn't look it and although he didn't hit the ball for much distance he hit it straight every single time. I had only signed up for 9 holes because of my ankle injury.
I assumed that the 89 year old would only be playing 9. Nope, he and the other guy in his early 70s were playing the full 18. I was amazed the a man 89 years old could play18. God bless him.
No, I'm still working my way back from my injury. So, did you bail out or hang in there? :
Cheers
