It always bugs me when they do filming in LA, and aren't consistent about the locations of things. I'll be watching a movie, and I'll see a street I recognize, only the cars are going the wrong way on a one-way street. Most of the world never knows the difference.

On Lost last night, we see Jack landing at LAX, then we see him driving across a bridge into downtown LA. The only problem is that the bridge crosses from Boyle Heights into downtown LA, coming from the East side, while LAX is west of downtown. So, Jack had to drive past downtown, then turn back around. Why would he take this route? I can only think of one place he could have been going:

Ben now knowing that he isn't as in charge of the "others" as he thought when he found out Jin, Syaid, and Bernard were still alive must have been a real kick to the balls.

No, those were evidently Ben's orders. Remember the next time we saw those three, the Others were complaining how they should have put bullets in them instead of in the sand, like Ben ordered...

I thought it was the other way - they should have shot the three not fired into the sand

but I could be wrong -

Ben ordered them to kill the three. The Others on the beach briefly discussed afterwards (before Hurley kicked their asses) that they really should have shot them like Ben said, but Tom said that Ben was screwy in the head (paraphrasing) and not to shoot them.

Huh. I thought it was the other way around.

I'm late checking into the planet today (and on a Lost discussion day no less!)

Great episode. I had a feeling the first time they showed Jack in a "flashback" that it was actually the future. Glad to see I'm not the only one going nuts trying to figure out who is in the coffin.

Great to see Walt make a brief apperance!

I'm watching it online right now.

Transcript:

"it was an order tom, we had to follow it."

"ben doesn't know what the hell he's talking about. he's lost it. i mean look at what they did to us. instead of putting three bullets in the damn sand, we should have killed them for real."

I stand by my previous statement.

I agree with you but what I don't get is how did Ben know that they would have set a trap and been captured by his men, to give an order to pretend to execute them in order to squueze Jack into staying on the island?

Ben was told by Tom that Tom's group had captured 3 but lost 7 during the raid

Gotcha--so we're to assume that during that scene (or shortly after) is when Ben devised that plan?

Thanks :thumb:

I can make out J----- ---ntham.

Given that the show features characters named John Locke, Rousseau, and Desmond David Hume, I wouldn't be surprised to see them throw the name of another political philosopher like Jeremy Bentham in there.

Perhaps the man in the coffin is Jacob (last name Bentham)?

I thought I read something about that on lost-tv.com but I never got to deep into the dualities between the character names and philosophical/religious references.

If that's who it is (Jeremy Bentham) then it is a character who is yet to be introduced.

Ok, the wife and I just watched the finale at lunch. I can only think of a Hurley respone to this.

Dude, what the hell just happened?

Thats a great point. People are assuming we already know this character. With 3 years left before the series ends, the man in coffin may not even have been introduced yet.

By the way, if this episode was a Flash Forward, why is Kate not in prison or on the run?

Why did Jack say "Bring my father down here, and we'll see which one is more drunk?"

His father's DEAD.

This feels more like an alternate universe than the future.

Well we have two (or is it three?) more years to find out about Kate.

My take on Jack talking about his dad was that he was ranting because he was drunk (from the pity look he got from the guy he was ranting at).

My guess is that Jack just f'd up big time by contacting Naomi's ship or people or whatever (I mean, we KNOW they're not gonna get rescued).

Walt may have been showing Locke a possible screwed up future.

Just enough stuff to keep people guessing all summer long.

"The body of John Lantham of New York was found shortly after 4 am in the 4300 block of Grand Avenue.

Ted Worden, a doorman at the Tower Lofts complex, heard loud noises coming from the victim's loft.

Concerned for tenants' safety, he entered the loft and found the body hanging from a beam in the living room.

According to Jaime Ortiz, a police spokesman, the incident was deemed a suicide after medical tests. Latham (sic) is survived by one teenaged son.

Memorial services will be held at the Hoffs-Drawlar Funeral Home tomorrow evening."
