Sorry, long-time lurker, not sure why today is the day I feel like posting, but somebody has to tell you: your sister has most likely married an idiot.

Spygate was overblown. The principal took a student to task for breaking a rule he told him not to. It wasn't about competitive advantage, it was about respecting authority. Belichick didn't respect Goodell since from an early stage he realized what we all do now - that Goodell is some knuckle dragger in a position he's not qualified for. It's not cheating to steal signs that are signaled in front of 70,000 people - by all accounts it's part of the game. And there wasn't the technology to process video fast enough back then for the Patriots to use the stuff in-game, anyway (it was all digital tape, clumsily processed, at best, in real-time).

In terms of deflate-gate, the gas laws have been known for about 150 years. Unfortunately, the Patriots crossed the wrong people who were unaware of the immutable laws of nature, and got wrapped up in a controversy about nothing.

Next holiday season, you should buy your brother-in-law Thermodynamics for Dummies and a Patriots hat.

Nice debut.

A fair enough question. There are probably plenty of cases where we, as a group, see things through our own homer goggles.

In this case, I wasn't sure what to think until I heard Belichick, Brady and Kraft give their press conferences and my finely-tuned bullshit detector knew that we were the ones getting porked. I have complete faith that there was no deception on their parts.

I'd stake anything that that is the case. That this is all a total hose-job. I wish I could bet on the outcome, only I have so little respect and trust for the Commissioner's office that I don't doubt they could attempt to make us sacrificial lambs to make their own bungling henchmen look better.

You wan't to know why this is taking so long? Because Roger can't find a way to pin the tail on the Foxboro donkey. The spin masters have nothing but a public embarrassment coming and they are trying to find a time to minimize the publicity without a massive public black eye.

They are going to get one anyway.

After Kraft and BB flatly denied the whole thing, how could anyone not believe the Pats were innocent?

That's my greatest worry, too, Hawg.

I've thought for a while that the weekend of the draft is what the NFL is waiting for to break out Wells' report.

So are NFL waiting until after the draft. To finally find a way to punish the pats.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...ng-deflategate-ruling-becomes-more-important/

When the NFL hired Ted Wells to conduct the #DeflateGate investigation and basically told him to take his time, the NFL surely didn’t expect him to take an extended period of time. After all, how hard can it be to figure out whether the Patriots did or didn’t deliberately tamper with the air pressure inside footballs used in the AFC championship game?

Now, more than 10 weeks after Wells was retained — and nine weeks to the day since he said it would take at least several more weeks to finish the investigation — the draft is only three weeks and three days away. With the Patriots facing the potential loss of draft picks if they’re determined to be responsible for violating the rules regarding permissible air pressure, the Patriots need to know whether they’ll have all of their 2015 draft picks, sooner than later.

For now, any planning for the draft necessarily hinges on whether and to what extent one or more picks will be pilfered from the Patriots. Even though the Patriots remain steadfast regarding their innocence, they’re smart enough to realize that what they believe and what the league concludes may conflict, especially given the strong possibility that one or more employees of the league office will feel compelled to find wrongdoing in order to justify the entire excursion.

Right or wrong, guilty or innocent, atmospheric or deliberate, the time has come for Ted Wells to devote all efforts to getting the report finished so that the NFL can decide whether and to what extent the Patriots will be losing one or more picks in a draft that begins in only 24 days.

------
So he has the Patriots guilty without the conclusion of an investigation IMO

The Patriots know their innocent so what's Florio trying to say here?

Florio is already on record as saying the Pats did nothing wrong but he recognizes the same thing we do...the NFL needs to come up with something to justify this expensive Wells investigation and the NFL will not be denied.

Personally, I think the Wells report will be released the weekend of the draft since that's something the NFL would do.

Just saw this over at twitter

Seriously, how can the Deflategate Investigation take this long?

Maybe the nfl is getting a two fer from Wells - investigation of under inflated footballs and the revis tampering charges on the jests. Shouldn't have taken so long for either.
:coffee:

Regarding how long the Wells investigation is taking I have one simple observation.

The NFL still hasn't ruled on the Jet's tampering with Revis.

How much investigation does that take? :spock:

That being said, I want to know what the eff is the holdup with the tampering charge against the Jets? Seems to me it's a pretty clearcut case against the Jets that doesn't need much pondering.

I WANT ANSWERS, GODDAMIT!!!!

Some good points being made in the media. It's been 10 weeks since Wells was appointed. What is the delay and this is now surely affecting the Patriots draft preparations as they need to know now if they'll have draft picks taken away. This is not acceptable to leave this going so long with the draft fast approaching.

The delay is that Wells is looking into the corruption at the league offices. I have no problem with him taking as much time as he needs to do that.

They're not losing any draft picks and everyone knows it. Continue planning as normal.

I agree completely.

There is simply no way an investigation of deflated footballs in a game should be taking this long. Even if they interviewed everyone associated with the Ravens, Colts, Pats and NFL Offices it should have been done by now. Either you find something, or you do not. When you find proof, you have your report. This report is being held because they've got nothing and have a plan to release it at a time when it will be forgotten in a couple of hours.

HOF worthy first post!

You fit.

Stick around!

Goodell: Hey Ted before you send me the hard copy of that report send me a PDF file of it for review thanks.

Ted: Okay you sign the checks.

Goodell: Ill let ya know when I want the final draft dated and sent.

Does anyone really think Goodell isn't getting Email briefs and updates on the report? He already has a very good idea of whats in it.

Without a doubt.

You finally get it, Roger hand selected the investgators= corrupt review

And is paying them. Let's not forget that.

Just like an attorney pays for the "independent" testimony of an expert witness to support their case.

And is conducting the investigation along side of the NFL Executive VP. It's a joint investigation not an independent one.

"The investigation is being led jointly by NFL Executive Vice President Jeff Pash and Ted Wells of the law firm of Paul Weiss. Mr. Wells and his firm bring additional expertise and a valuable independent perspective

The purpose

The goals of the investigation will be to determine the explanation for why footballs used in the game were not in compliance with the playing rules and specifically whether any noncompliance was the result of deliberate action. We have not made any judgments on these points and will not do so until we have concluded our investigation and considered all of the relevant evidence.

I think the reason the report is taking so long to be made public is because Roger the Dodger is having a really difficult time penning a suitable final draft apology to Kraft and the NE Patriots organization.
