Looking at the Patriots - 2021

Another reason I loved the pre-dynasty Pats teams of the '70s, '80s and '90s
Those defenses had some great players and reading this list brings back some great memories.
Look who leads the list - Tippett, Julius Adams, Willie, Tony McGee, Ray Hamilton, Chris Slade and so many more.

Most sacks in Pats' history

Tony McGee had 76 sacks?!?! Was I asleep?

Dolphins’ corner Xavien Howard could be looking for a pay raise just like Gilmore is.
“There’s a lot of trade chatter concerning Dolphins All-Pro CB Xavien Howard, who led the NFL with 10 interceptions in 2020 & is unhappy with his contract,” Howard tweeted Wednesday afternoon. Howard signed a five-year, $75.25M extension two years ago & already wants a new, improved deal in the wake of his stellar 2020 season. He’s not likely to get it from Miami…he could try to force the issue by holding out of training camp.”

Howard is currently set to make $12.1 million this year, the second year of a five-year extension. There is a potential opt out for the team after season, followed by three more years with an average salary of $12.4 million. For comparison, the Patriots are scheduled to pay Gilmore $7.7 million in 2021, the final year of his deal.

Tippett was insanely good wasn't he. And still involved with the Patriots to this day.

Huge man and still looks in good condition.

I remember being at training camp during his rookie season. We had a intrasquad scrimmage going on and Tippett
was sent in with the vets. Everybody had trouble blocking him and after multiple plays where he broke free into the
backfield the vets started applauding and talking him up. They knew right away they had a player in Andre.

It's interesting the Giselle hate. I mean she is his wife and she got pretty sick and tired of how he was being treated especially the last 5-6 years. I know I appreciate my spouse looking out for me when things are not always clear especially when I have been somewhere so long I can't see the forest from the trees.
Yeah, I have no problem with Giselle sticking on for her man.

As an aside, there's no doubt Bill's system worked for a long time, though. If he had drafted better with WRs, it likely still would be working. Still, I'm optimistic for the future.

Yeah, he didn't suck. :)

Our LBs this year should be really good this year. That's the positional group I'm most looking forward to seeing develop.
The Pats have 10 veterans who have all been starters + 2 rookies in Perkins and McGrone. I see greatness coming with our LBs.

Still confusing disapproval with hate, huh?
In terms of the "Patriot Way. There are many ways to win in the NFL. I have said this for years but Bill made 20 years of dominance feel like a curse. That guy was as cuddly as a cactus with his snorting, grunting pressers believing he was always the smartest guy in the room. He took so much fun out of what should have been the best magic carpet ride for 20 years and fans gave him a pass falsely believe that his curmudgeon persona was the reason for the success and not the fact that he had the GOAT QB. What a slap in the face to him to see Brady all tanned, loving the sun, sailing on his boat and hoisting another Lombardi then tossing it playfully to his teammates during the parade. That is what the last 20 years should have been here but Bill always kept the clamps down because God forbid the players and fans should actually have some fun while completing dominating the league with the GOAT QB.
This is a load of bullshit. The Patriot Way was Do Your Job, Next Man Up. It's about a team, not one player, and it didn't change when Brady left. BB's philosphy was always get rid of a player a year too early rather than a year too late (though in this case, I believe Brady left because he wanted to and that's why the No Franchise clause). Brady, like so many other great players, was replaced.

The Patriots and the Patriot Way contine as long as BB is there. Patriots fans did not give BB a pass. We loved him, and still do. We don't like some picks, are surprised when picks we don't like work out. We have the right not to like anything. We just don't tear him apart because he isn't perfect and pretend that 20 years of success had to do only with one player.

You continue to blat over and over and make a big deal over Brady winning a superbowl declare that is proof that BB fucked up. Who gives a shit if he won a superbowl other than to be glad the haters have to eat crow? Anyway, Brady didn't. The Bucs won a superbowl. He was a part of it. But it doesn't prove, as you said earlier, that without Brady BB is less than average as a choach. Had Brady gone to a different team maybe he would've had a losing season. Maybe he would have led the Jets or Jaguars to a superbowl. Again, who gives a shit? It proves nothing.

The 2021 Patriots continue the Patriot way with BB.

She's the quintessential Pink Hat...

My patience has run out with them. Brady era fans are going on ignore. It was never about the team just the player. Their posts confirm it.
I don't get it. I've been a Patriots fan since I was a kid. I was a huge Brady fan when he was with the Patriots and I remain a fan now that he's with Tampa but that is a far secondary "fandom" for me then for the actual Patriots team.

The Patriots are always first and if it can't be them then hopefully Brady can win another one. But if the Patriots end up in the Super Bowl against the Buccaneers then a first drive broken ankle for Brady would have me cheering.

I watched the 18 chamionshp game against the Chiefs last night.

What struck me was Badys command of the offense but coupled with that was the complete precision of the whole team.

Brady gets credit for building himself into who he became but Bill is the damn architect.

Nothing wrong with following him . You were Patriots fans first. You post about the team. Compared to being a Brady era Fan. That making it all about him. F the HC responsible for him leaving.

This isn't about Brady winning the Super Bowl in year one with a new team. That is nothing more than simplistic reason to take the focus off the fact that in a three year span, Bill Belichick made one of the most questionable decisions in Super Bowl history which in hindsight probably cost the team the only 3-peat ever, caused the greatest tight end ever to retire rather than play for him, and failed to keep the greatest quarterback of all-time satisfied, choosing instead to double down and triple down on The Patriot Way and "next man up." Of course next man up was broken Cam Newton for not only one dumpster fire season but for an encore as well.

And when fans ask for accountability, or at the very least, recognition that Bill has screwed up royally, they're just marginalized and their "true Patriots fandom" is called into question.

I don't really give a crap if people think I'm a real fan or not. I've been a Belichick fan boy almost as much as a Brady fan boy for many years, but I also recognize that a once great philosophy has become a liability.
