The 2023 Season NFL Playoffs Thread

I don't know any Bills fans that don't expect the worst outcome.

Are they excited to have a good QB & a team that's in the mix? Sure. But most wait for the other shoe to drop, always.

It's too hard to be completely optimistic

Poor Bass had to delete all his social media. That's a national trend now in sports, politics, etc where internet-based death threats are common.

The thing is Bass didn't lose the game, he didn't fail to win the game. He failed to tie it. With just under 2 minutes left.
The game was lost on the final series. Abandoning the scheme that got them to the 23yrd line and burned up over 5 minutes of the clock. The game was lost when Allen made two poorly decided and poorly thrown balls to the end zone. Which would have given KC WAY too much time against a tired and depleted Defense to come back and score.

Bass has been terrible this year, missing 5 FG's. But he didn't lose the game

Couldn't agree more, I feel for Bass.

What I thought was cool was the way Allen waited for Bass at the tunnel and put his arm around him as they walked in.

It's moronic for anyone to blame Bass for the loss. Imagine how bad the guy feels and will feel for a long time. Sadly, it is possible that he had to delete his social media accounts. People can be right cunts.

i love football but it's a game. people who put signs on players' lawns, threaten them, etc are just garbage.

It was Allen‘s fault in my opinion that he missed it. He could not have played those three downs from the 26th any worse given the game situation and the score.

I'm curious, HK. How do Bills fans feel about McDermott as your HC?
From my pov, he cost you the 13 secs game and Sunday night's game bc of the 2 awful pass plays at the end which never should have been an option.
His in-game management in crunch time has been a killer.

Only when it affects the Bills record/Standings in the Division
Really? For some reason I find that very hard to believe. I've never met a fan of another team that didn't want the Pats to go 0-17 every year, especially AFCE fans.

Who America is rooting for? This could be pretty accurate I think. Southern Calif would never root for SF.

They've been calling for his job all season and now it's been ramped up,
The feeling is he's a Marty/Marvin. He can get to the playoffs but can't get to the SB.

His clock management is horrible. He didn't do it in the playoffs, thankfully, but he's wasted more time outs, taking them on Defense at the end of a half/game for NO reason.

I can't blame Sunday on him - other than the fake punt. I don't believe the called plays were heave it to the End Zone. I put that on Allen but a Captain goes down with the ship, right??
As for running the Defense, what he did with a roster of 2nd and 3rd stringers - I mean, AJ Klein was reading the help wanted section in the paper 3 weeks ago - is admirable. He showed that he could adapt and many games where the opponents came out moving the ball well, McD did a great job stopping them as the game went on. He did it to KC.
The downside is the drafts have been defense heavy and we've needed new blood at WR alone for 2-3 years

Frankly, I'm in the middle. He took a 17-year playoff drought, a joke of a team and brought us this far but on the other hand, we need someone who had a better vision for a team built around Allen.

Of course, the cries for Harbaugh are loud but I don't see that. Someone online said BB should be our DC - which is utterly stupid. I don't know any Head Coach prospects that are out there but regardless, Pegula won't fire a guy for being this successful and not fire a Sabres coach who has lost his team and can't put 16 high 1st-round draft choices - 3 First over-all - in a position to win

Those are home-team fans, not Football fans. The dynasty brought some of the best players to the division, created and redirected intense division rivalries and put the NFL Spotlight firmly on the AFCE for 20 years! The Bills built the team we have now originally to beat NE. Before 2001, Miami was Buffalo's biggest rivalry.

One of those was targeted to Shakir and came up short. The replay showed Chris Jones bulling one of your OLs back and bumping into Allen as he
tried to step into the throw and he couldn't get enough on it. Shakir was wiiiide open. The point is not to say that you are wrong, but just to say that
NFL games are sometimes decided by ridiculously small things and tiny margins. One split second more and Allen, who was extremely accurate on most
of his throws, steps into that one and hits it to be the hero. Maybe. He doesn't get that split second and your kicker gets death threats.

Yes, it was unnecessary to go that deep, but it was ripe. Right there.

BTW, where the hell was Dalton Kincaid the first three quarters? Was he a secret weapon? He's been outstanding for the 2nd half of
the season or so. Joe Brady has been given a lot of props for creative play calling, but maybe that was a little too slick.

The Kincaid mystery is one we talk about often. This is typical McD. Very slow to put more weight on rookies and Kincaid seems like he could easily handle it so maybe next year, we'll see him become more of a slot receiver/TE if Brady gets the full-time job and has a whole off-season to put an offensive scheme together

I'm hoping for meteor but if that doesn't happen I don't want the Chiefs to be considered a dynasty.
The alternative is only slightly more palatable and, in the end, I will be cheering for the NFC in the SB.

Same here and I don't care which team in the NFC makes it to the SB, we will be rooting for them to win it all.
