Looking at the Patriots 2024

For a guy who scolds us not to make assumptions because we're not inside Gillette, you're making an awful lot of assumptions and expounding lots of misinformation with this post. :coffee:

There's a reason the Patriots have been last in cash spending over the last 10 years and it's not Belichick.
Cash is needed for FA signing bonuses and guarantees. For your information, BB isn't the one who controlled the cash available. That was Robert Kraft. BB complained about it 3 yrs ago.
Kraft's penuriousness is the sole reason the Patriots were last in cash spending over the last 10 years. BB did pretty well to win 3 SBs over that time, don't you think?

Why don't you mention the 2 year, $50M contract offered to Brady in the summer of 2019 which he turned down?
Why don't you mention the "no franchise tag" clause Brady insisted upon to play in 2019?

The night of Kraft's and Brady's tearful meeting, Kraft presented Brady a 1 yr $30M contract to stay. Brady turned it down; he had made up his mind to leave. You don't mention
that, either.

These contracts I mention, the franchise tag clause and the Pats being last in cash spending have all been reported by the media yet you wanted to straighten us out.
I don't think so.
Actually, I like reading his POV…it’s as legit as the NFL is. ☕

And, of course, you were there to personally record everything you just wrote?

Believe whatever you want. No sense arguing over things that cannot be proven.

You have your facts, I have mine.

Well Curran is now the Kraft family official spokesman. What he always wanted. But of course, Kraft makes no sense in his defensive comments about money as the tweet below highlights.

Here's another name you've probably not heard.

Marshall Oium. (OYum) He's our new Director of Scouting. Right hand man to Eliot Wolf.
But unlike Robyn Glaser, Oium is a good guy who is there to get the best players possible.

Spend 8ish years, presumably, on the road as a scout so he seems to have put that time in.

I was listening briefly to Felger and Mazz (yeah, I know, why would I torture myself?), and one caller hit a grand slam:

He asked why guys like Curran and Bedard wouldn’t ask the real tough questions of Kraft. Why they are willing to rip BB but absolutely refuse to challenge Kraft at all?
Felger was brutally honest: he said the reporters closest to Kraft and the Patriots don’t want to be cut off.
And as a result, what do we get? Poor reporting from them because they don’t want to be cut off by the Patriots.

So we as fans should just ignore Bedard, Perillo, Curran, et al. They’re just Kraft mouthpieces. They will never hold him accountable.

There's another side it. Jonathan is responsible for all the Patriots' media contracts and Felger doesn't want to cost the station the right to carry the games on their
radio station. You won't ever hear criticism of the Krafts from them.

Felger has been at BB's place on Nantucket and been on the boat, years ago.

Exactly. Although I will say, Felger does criticize Kraft a lot for the real cash spending. He has been riding that pine for years.
