Christmas music

One song that I always liked from back in the late 70's was The Winter Song by Angel. It was popular on Boston FM radio and I just ran across it last year after a long while since hearing it. A bit generic, perhaps, but it always sounded atmospheric and a little bit off the beaten path, which usually works for me. Somehow Angel captures the feeling of a snowstorm in the dead of winter in a song. This song always sounded fantastic on a nice sound system, so crank it up.

A lot more recent is a contemporary version of I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day by Echosmith. Pretty and different.

Two great albums also - Mom loved them both.

Although imma sentimental ol'Duke when it comes to Christmas Music, liking a wide range from the Classics to the Kitschy,

one song trumps them all and is a must listen for me over these Holidays

O Holy Night

AND it MUST be sung by someone w/ big balls in their voice like a Pavarotti or a Bocelli, NOT that wench Mariah Carey for cripes sakes :)

so here's Andrea for your pleasure (y)

Beautiful

Joe Williams, great (bigtime) soothing baritone Jazz and Blues singer. Know somewhat for playing Claire Huxtables Dad on the Cosby show.

I also have a little Holiday album of his and I love his rendition of "What Are You Doing New Years Eve?"

It was a stupid Biden PBS Christmas debacle production (just my opinion, a lot of bias in that there proclamation). He sang (O Holy NIght with his son first and I forget what with his daughter both fun and enjoyable. Both with deceny voices but his lung power really (imo) buried the kids.

Cheers, BostonTim

Like a whole lot.

What I love about Christmas music is that, once a year, I am reunited with some of the most incredible (never to be duplicated again) singing voices that ever graced our planet.

How could I forget this. I love her voice.

Me too. I’m going to buy a ticket to her upcoming livestream.

She still sounds terrific. An unmistakable voice.
