Colts vs. Patriots Official Game Thread

Easley was a beast tonight. Nice to see him get going.

Never thought in a million years that I would see something dumber than the butt fumble.

There is always next week and you have the J-E-S-T next week. You never know.

Whoever drew that play up needs to be taken out to a corn field and taken care of... Casino style.

No, office space style.

It will be interesting to see what the ratings are for the game. This will be the real winner for NBC and the NFL. They make their money off advertising.

To their credit, many of the posters on this Colts board are incensed with their own coaching staff for calling that jack-assed fake punt play, and most of the rest are incensed with Whalen for snapping the ball. But, there's at least one of these in every crowd ...

Deon Sanders just said it on NFL Network. No one was suppose to snap the ball. The plan was to draw the Defense Offside. Someone on the Defense near Griff said "Hut-Hut" and then he hike the ball. Griff got played like a fool.

Damned cheating cheaters who cheat ...

The scary part is, that play... that whatever-the-hell-it-is... was apparently practiced a bunch.

By the standards of the bar that had been set before the game (60-0 predictions, the huge spread etc.) I shouldn't be feeling all the disappointed, we hung with you guys for large parts of the game and were in at least a position to win still win it.

Then that happens....

:suicide:

I just watched Pagano's post-game press conference, and all I can say is ... apparently New England does not have the market cornered on jack-hole questions from jack-hole "sports journalists."

I mean, come on, really? Do you honestly expect Pagano to (a) throw his own players under the bus because of that silly fake punt play, (b) incur a hefty fine with the NFL by openly claiming that the refs "blew the call" on that onside kick, or (c) talk at length about Deflategate?

If I were Commissioner, I would either (1) stop forcing players and coaches to speak to the press if they don't want to, or (2) allow them one free dope-slap per conference against the "journalist" who asks the dumbest question. On top of that, the slapped dope would be banned from the next N conferences, where N is a large number. :thwak:

I didn't see the game last night (curse having a full time job and being on the wrong side of the Pond) so only saw the NFL's 5 short highlight package, would anyone care to explain what the controversy with the onside kick was?

The Pats ST'ers were mainly lined up close to the 10-yard zone and from my perspective the kicker, Pat McAfee, popped an onside kick over the front wall and into an open area. It appeared initially that Josh Kline fell on the ball, but for some reason he couldn't get his arms wrapped around it and when the pile was finally uncovered the Colts were holding the ball.

The ref announced that the Colts recovered and then corrected himself to say it was New England's ball while Al Michaels missed that correction and congratulated the Colts on a great play. The Colts challenged the ruling while multiple replays made it appear, to me, that a Colt pulled it out from under Kline before the play was dead and I expected the call to be overturned.

However, New York apparently decided that the evidence wasn't clear enough to overturn and the call on the field was upheld. Our ball.

I thought it was a bad call and they got it, but it wasn't 100% clear.

I can't recall ever seeing a defender do what Collins did. What a beast. I'd like to see that again on a critical field goal attempt.

Kam Chancellor had a similar play on a field goal last year, but Collins had better execution. That was SICK play. It was almost like time stood still and waited for Collins to go have his way with that play.

I think the Colts were trying to show NE that they know the rule book, too.

Harbaugh probably drew that play up for them. Puppets.

What were your impressions of Luck? I thought he still looked injured. He was pulling up on a lot of his throws which resulted in some floaters and high throws that were almost picked. Also, why did Indy abandon the run on the 4th only down 13? Gore was tearing it up and then the O goes all pass and the Pats D just feasted.
