Casey Pierce Kent St could be another Sudfeld per write ups.

Best bets may be Clear. James. Boyle..
Figuring anything smaller is a big WR.

Did see a TE Rory (Busta) Anderson S. Carolina can move and catch the ball well but don't have a reliable weight.

I filled in a couple of things on Boyle
Here's another one who wasn't at the combine:
CJ Uzomah, 6'5", 265, 4.64 40, 31"vj, 9'10" bj BB gave him a private workout
AHern...., 6'2", 245, 4.64 40, 33"vj, 9'3" bj

Some intriguing prospects here and a few stand out.

James is 6'7" with a 37.5"vj a 10'1"bj and a very respectable 4.5ss. Explosion galore & 26 reps (2nd most) so this is no Jimmy Graham. Huge RZ target.

I look forward to your reports on each one!

This guy?

wrong guy...:coffee:

From Draftbreakdown. He wears #18:
<iframe src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/66TvH_cE_bQ" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" width="560"></iframe>

Currently projected as the 96. Last pick of Round 3.

Hmmm...

Just need a blocking TE to take over for hooman. Good luck MD she pregnant again

Some respones
Am just trying to familiarize myself (ourselves) with potential prospects. Not trying to replace anyone in particular but maybe find an upgrade for any TE not named Gronk. Player could have higher ceiling or be cheaper.

When pulling this year's crop of measurables on the TEs was surprised how good Hooman's measurables were.

The measurables on JJames the TE are better than I was aware of. Most writeups I've seen are "mainly a blocker". JJames the TE looked good catching the ball but can't say I saw any "snags ". On that video how bad does the Penn State OL looked??? Or does UCF have a ton of talent on defence?? Was thinking Donovan Smith-PS- OL could be a potential Pat but will have to check out.

Wouldn't mind picking up blocking TE. And/ or a Sudfeld type that can bulk up on the PS.

More later- got some time before the draft.

In this 6 min video of UNH highlights you can see two snatch like catches by TE Harold Spears of UNH. 250 lbs 4.70 forty. Number 89.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QWH8tsWJujY

In this second video..
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_Ht4PZ8vus
It's obvious Spears has good hands.

Also you can spot Nick Boyle of Delaware (in 2nd video) who has good measurables- Ht- Wgt-Speed. Number 86. Easy to spot. He's the one that fumbled.

Spears looks gifted in the receiving department.

Back to this,, TE’s. For reference. Only providing some measurables.

Gronk 265lbs. 4.70 forty. 1.58 10 yds. 4.47 short shuttle
Holman 260lbs 4.77 forty. 1.67 10 yds. 4.52ss
Aperp. 245lbs. 4.64 forty. 1.65 10 yds. 4.18ss

Originally started watch full games to measure full impact, did a couple of highlight reels.
Looked for blocking and receiving ability, physicality along with on field demeanor.
Highlight reels can be misleading, see comment on Jesse James below. Did not try to rank Funchess, maybe look at him later.
Am leery of small schools, what happens when a NFL DE hits a guy from South whatever college??

The way I see these coming off the board on draft day is as follows;
Max Williams from Minn,, 4.78 forty ,No comment, outside the draftable region for the Pats
Clive Walford, from Miami,, has a nice combination of blocking , receiving, has some shiftyness, looks like a 3rd rounder.
Tyler Kroft, Rutgers, has speed Pats like, can block and receive, visted by Caserio, Looks like a 4th rounder
AJ. Derby, from Arkansas , similar to Kroft a bit slower, in Chevs WR video, Looks like lower 4th rounder

After this I am considering the following to be low round picks/ UDFAs, which is not a bad thing.

Seems like it is easier to find TEs that tall WR’s than a true TE, like a Sudfeld.
I liked Sudfeld and would have loved to see him go through some weight training with the Pats

So who are my favorites for the Pats to pick up late?
My fav, #1) Eric Tomlinson from UTEP, a blocking TE, looks like Gronk, blocks like Gronk, is a rumbling, stumbling, getouttamyway TE. 263 lbs, 4.54 ss, 4.98 forty at the combine.
But is slower, but just this past week he improved his forty time to 4.77. Was an UDFA up to this past week, may have become draftable now.
2) Gerald Christian from Lousivile, similar to Walford, can block and catch, has a physical game. Have not seen him rated highly.
3) Should include Casey Pierce, Kent State similar to Tyler Kroft but never got a good look.

After that, it is what do you want?;
Do you want speed, (which may be the Pats number one interest), there are several players that are freakish;
And may be drafted as high as the fourth round.
Mycole Pruitt from S. Illinois- Highlight reel looks like a short Lebron James running amongst high schoolers.
251 lbs. 4.58 forty. 1.60 10 yds. 4.37ss
Wes Saxton from South Alabama 248 lbs 4.65 forty. 1.57 10 yds. 4.49ss
K. Backman from UAB, visited by Caserio 238 lbs 4.57 forty

With Gronk, Chandler, Hoomanawanui, and Wright, I can't imagine them grabbing anyone but a late round flyer or a couple UDFA.

TE's Mike R. is following as poss Pats fits.

The "beyond the first round" series continues with tight end, attempting to identify good fits for the team:
<aside class="inline inline-with-table float-r"><table data-text-contract="Contract table" data-text-expand="Expand table" data-fix-cols="0" data-behavior="responsive_table" class="inline-table" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr class="last"><td>
</td></tr></tbody></table>

</aside>Second round:Clive Walford (Miami) -- The 6-foot-4, 251-pound Walford is one of the top combination tight ends in this year's not-too-deep class, as he's competitive both as a blocker and pass-catcher. His primary sport was basketball and he didn't start playing football until his senior year of high school. His 35-inch vertical jump and 120-inch broad jump were some of the top testing results among those at the position, and his 34-inch arm length and 10 1/4-inch hand size also are viewed favorably by scouts.
Middle rounds: Jeff Heuerman (Ohio State) -- At 6-foot-5 1/8 and 254 pounds, Heuerman is one of the higher-rated tight ends this year and scouts must assess how much a foot injury affected his performance last season. A team captain, he was a three-year starter and has appealing physical traits, such as a 33 1/4 arm length and 10 1/8-inch hand size. His 26 repetitions on the bench press also reflect his strength.
Middle rounds: Tyler Kroft (Rutgers) -- The 6-foot-5 1/2, 246-pound Kroft comes from a program the Patriots have tapped in recent years, which naturally puts him on the radar. But even if he attended a different school, his athletic skills, competitiveness as a blocker and pass-catching ability make him a versatile tight end worthy of consideration. He was a two-year starter. An ankle injury has affected his ability to work out, creating an added wrinkle for teams in the pre-draft process.
Middle rounds: Jesse James (Penn State) -- From a physical-traits standpoint, the 6-foot-7, 261-pound James stands out as one of the top prospects in 2015. He also put up some solid testing numbers (e.g. 37 1/2 inch vertical jump) and his big frame helped produce 11 touchdowns in 2014, which is a Penn State single-season record for the position. He started 25 games over the past two seasons, first breaking through in 2012 under former Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien.
Late rounds: Nick O'Leary (Florida State) -- The 6-foot-3 1/4, 252-pound O'Leary aligned in various spots while playing in 54 games (40 starts) over the past four seasons. He was the John Mackey Award winner as the nation's top tight end in 2014 and is the grandson of golfing great Jack Nicklaus. Known as a scrappy competitor who plays with an edge, he has some physical traits that might fall short of what some teams might desire (e.g. 29 3/4 arm length) and some of his testing results (e.g. 4.93 in the 40, a vertical of 30 1/2-inch) could be a concern to some clubs.
Late rounds: Randall Telfer (Southern Cal) -- One of the Patriots' confirmed pre-draft visits, the 6-foot-3 3/4, 250-pound Telfer is considered a high-intangibles player. He had foot surgery six weeks ago and hasn't been able to work out for teams. He has experience as a blocker and pass-catcher -- his role varied depending on the needs of the offense -- putting him closer to the combination category among this year's class. Telfer received his bachelor's degree in December and has been working toward his master's degree.
Beyond-the-first-round series

Monday: Off-the-line linebacker

Tuesday: Wide receiver

Wednesday: Cornerback

Thursday: Running back

Friday: Defensive tackle

I have to believe with Obriens familiarity and the obvious Gronk-like size comparisons JJ is gonna be plucked early by the Texans.

He's the one I'd like.

I did look at several of those ...
(Tried to copy paste a file and this "site" would only accept half)

Did not consider Heuerman because of the Meyer connection.
T. Kroft has very good speed measurables in addition to what MR said.
J. James shows very little physicality even tho he is big- I downgraded him for that. His highlight video is misleading.

N. O'Leary is a slow Dave Thomas.
on Telfer he's ok. Similar to Kroft in style. What shows to me is "he's into the game".

If you want another Sudfeld type., there is;
H. Spears from UNH very good receiver good speed
J. Sifrin from UMass spindly can make accrobatic catches. Probably won't bulk up much.
Uzomah from Auburn..

Of the above Sudfeld list (after my preference above) i'd like Spears & Uzomah in 6.,7. UDFA
There are a bunch of other potential low rounders- be interesting what develops.
