Easley put on IR

I'm not surprised to hear that he was on a snap count.

I like to watch Easley and find him to be very interesting and unusual. I still don't think we've seen his best stuff, but it was clear that he was starting to make impact plays and was able to use his speed off the snap similar to what he did in Florida-- which sets up the rest of his game by getting opponents off-balance and then he can utilize his spins, bulls and rips to get free. He has been penetrating better and making about one "wow" play per game and was more solid overall. He can still get out-muscled at the point as was the case Sunday when Duane Brown just flattened him and then drove him through the floorboards, but as I said, there has been much less of that and more of him being problematic for the other guys.

He keeps rolling that rock up the hill and just when it appears he is ready to really be a force for this D he gets hurt again and the rock rolls back down.

I don't think his loss is critical, because we have depth at DT but it does hurt because none of the other guys have his kind of skill.

What troubles me is that both of his injuries seemed to occur during routine contact with first the hip giving way for no apparent reason and then the thigh/knee/leg whatever-it-was vs. Houston.

I don't generally like to use "made of glass" analogies for guys, but at this point it is probably fair to wonder if it may be true in Easley's case.

I am STILL waiting to see him lined up in the 5 and then the pre-snap gator roll out to the 9 with the collective offense all WTF and still have the closing burst for the sack.

If we can throw games away with stoopid drop kick hijinx then throw me a bone Bill!

Add Blount and our IR roster could compete for a WC berth.

Eh. I think that talent is about where Jacksonville is. Good enough to maybe squeak to .500 in a terrible division. Point is valid but they aren't close to good enough to keep up with KC/NYJ/PIT on a talent basis. Still a lot of quality players there though and not even including time missed by Edelman/Amendola/Gronkowski/OL

Pretty sure he was being a bit facetious...

Think I read somewhere that the Pats are top 3 in games lost due to injury this season and the other two ahead of them are the sub .500 ratbirds and NYG.

What dropped Flowers? I'd missed that one.

I know that he suffered a minor injury late in camp which was termed a "minor" knee injury. If I recall correctly he didn't play in the last preseason game after playing quite well over the first two games, including a King Hell sack vs. The Packers' starting LT Baktieri. That play made me think we've got ourselves something in Flowers and I looked forward to seeing what he could do with a little seasoning.

Turns out he was only on the field briefly in week 7 vs. the Jets and some suggest it was more of a numbers game keeping him inactive than any significant injury concern.

I saw a suggestion in Pats Pulpit that IR'ing him was the "Foxboro Flu" to create roster space, but we can't be sure what the deal with him was.

I think drafting him was planned at least in part as a hedge in the event that we lose Chandler Jones to FA. The other part being that he looks like one hell of a 4th round prospect and we'll find a spot for him somewhere.

He was playing a fair amount at DT during rushing situations during preseason, so I wonder if the team may regret IR'ing him due to the Easley situation. He might have been able to give us speed on the inside moreso than the big guys we have left.

Flowers can flat out play, imo. He ain't Jake Bequette.

Thank you.

I concur with everything you wrote and thought I'd missed a tragic play somewhere along the line.

Sometimes that Foxboro strain is a byatch!
