The NFL hit the New England Patriots with new penalties Sunday after members of their TV team were spotted recording from the Cincinnati Bengals’ press box during a game against the Cleveland Browns last season.

The Patriots were fined $1.1 million and will forfeit their third-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft as penalties.

The league also barred the TV crew from shooting any games during the upcoming season.

Of course, this wasn’t the first time the NFL has come down on the Patriots in recent years.

Earlier, there was “Spygate”, when the Patriots recorded defensive coaches’ signals from an unauthorized stadium location. It triggered a $500,000 fine for head coach Bill Belichick, a $250,000 fine for the organization and the loss of its first-round draft pick in 2008.

This time around, the Patriots confessed and complied with this latest investigation after they were caught in the act by the Bengals’ security. The Patriots’ explanation was that a video crew hired by the organization mistakenly “inappropriately filmed the field from the press box” for a “Do Your Job” video series on an advance scout to publish on the team website.

Separately, the league fined the Patriots $1 million and took away a 2016 first-round draft pick over Deflategate, which also resulted in a four-game suspension for quarterback Tom Brady.

What a joke. These types of punishments are why people still think the Patriots cheat. Ridiculous.

We can't know the truth about the guy filming but I do know the league has a history of punishing the Patriots for bogus bs. For that reason, I'm calling bs on this bs. Loss of a 3rd is nothing for BB the way he trades to manufacture picks. Kraft can afford the $1.1M. This punishment is clearly to pacify the haters, owners included.

All it does is further tarnish and cement that opinion of cheating throughout the league. I hate another pick pulled. What’s that, 4 now? Two 1s, a 4, and this 3?

IDK. It was apparent from the beginning that rules were broken so I expected something of this sort. The Newton signing will overshadow this punishment and give people/media something to read about. Besides, Brady's gone now so we're not the big bad Patriots anymore.

The Pats have to know that they live under a microscope. It's a slap in the face to BB/RK.

I'm not sure I believe the story but I find it funny that this incident and Spygate were against the freaking Bengals and the Jets.

What was apparent was the Pats we’re doing these vids all year. I started posting some. The draft. The kitchen. The personnnel dept. Training staff. This was for advance scouting. Mistakes made? Sure. History? Yup. But anything nefarious? Not a chance. They got fvcked.
 
Man this flew right under the radar. I didnt even see it. Ah it feels good to not do twitter anymore, Also yes, all this does is gives the haters an include on the list they use to diminish the team.
 
We deserve it. We also got off lightly. A 3rd and cash is actually a great punishment. This was either outright stupidity or actual cheating. Either way, we deserved it.
 
I go with stupidity by Kraft. Knowing the history behind Spygate. The.media loves milking the cheating headlines .

If we were going to cheat, why cheat vs cincy? I am kind of in doubt that they schemed up this entire elaborate plan to make all these shows about do you job just so on that fateful day they could get a far off look at the back of the bengals coaches heads.

What would make you think Cincy would be the only team we taped? They would just be the team we got caught taping. And, FWIW, I don’t think they were cheating. But they also deserved to get punished due to complete abject stupidity. You’ve already had to shake off two cheating scandals, one of which was about filming another team. Those cameramen should be had it HAMMERED INTO THEIR FUCKING HEADS not to point the camera at their sidelines.

Because I am pretty sure another team would have mentioned that the Pats were up in their booth taping. Again there are better ways.

It's the arrogance. The Patriots are nothing now to the Queefs, they see us as way beneath them, a washed up old team with nothing to offer. Their ire and hysteria will toward the Ravens now.

The Chiefs fall from grace will be delicious. Too many big-headed, arrogant twats on that team and they won't handle life at the top well. And of course, the salary cap and FA will put a dent in them.
