Holiday Bonuses

I received the annual holiday ham last week. Was told Monday I was needed to work the night shift for a "short time" and today I was told not only will I probably work the weekend, most likely I will be working Christmas. I have not yet figured out how to tell the missus. Bah-humbug.
 
I got 5K. Not to bad for a guy who knows Nothing.

Thanks. It has been a crappy week to be a teacher. ( I lost a former student who took his own life at his college due to freshman stress talk about Merry freakin' Christmas). Your kind words ring pretty loudly. I appreciate it.

They hiring?

Not only will I get nothing for XMas, except possibly a pink slip, IF I don't get fired I already have to work a 16-hour shift on Christmas Eve (8am-midnight) and I have to work Christmas Day as well.

I'd kick the sh*t out of the department manager... except I'm the department manager. :sulk:

(I have three part-timers. One already had vacation planned, the other decided to quit as of this Friday, and the third, well, I was a nice guy and told him he could go see his mom for Christmas and I'd work.)
 
While my company doesn't do the traditional Christmas bonus's, we have quarterly based on sales(they haven't missed one since 2001) etc. we got our 3rd in mid November so technically that could be used for Christmas gifts. It essentially turns out to be equivalent to a paycheck which is nice... I am curious about we are working on now since the company is setting all sorts of sales records.

My work just shocked me and gave me a 50 dollar gift card (AM EX so I can use it anywhere they accept that brand of credit card).. I know 50 bucks isn't a lot of money, but it's more than I've gotten any other year (jack squat). Pretty nice!

I guess surfing the Planet pays after all!

AMEX gift cards can be used anywhere that accepts them, which is tons more places than those that accept the credit card.

The two have nothing to do with each other.

Oh for real? See what I get for assuming? Thanks for the heads up!

I figure I'll wait and see if I did get an XBOX 360 for Christmas and then maybe I'll buy a new game or a second controller or something.

I got a $100 dollar gift card from my new job. I was happy to get something, anything. In my old job, they didn't give us anything.
 
I have a question. I didnt get a Christmas bonus yet, but the guys who work for me did last week, so I emailed the boss asking if there was going to be a bonus. Should I have kept my mouth shut?
 
I am sorry to read of some of your misfortunes. We had our Christmas party last night and I got $200 in gift checks and a letter from the VP saying we would be getting "significant" bonuses in our check on Friday. I was having a few beers with my boss after the party and he told me that my bonus will be $7,500! I was floored.
