That is just a huge cap hit for one position, and how can you be pretty sure about anything really. I would not have given you good odds that Brady would be playing good at 39, so who knows. I just find it interesting that the pats drafted another QB high with JG already here.

I really don't take it as a slap at JG's ability, not now with the rookie salary slotting. I think it's wise to draft a Qb decently high most years (if one is worthy) and the team isn't really strapped $/talentwise. It is HARD to develop players under the new CBA, and QBs and OL suffer the most IMO. If you have a few years to watch and develop a guy, you have a better chance of evaluating him properly despite limited reps.
