Based on his hot start in Portland, Lars Anderson has been promoted to AAA Pawtucket. Good news, as last year he struggled a bit at Portland. Hope he continues his development with an eye on a possible 2011 move to the big league club.

Considered one of the better prospects in the Red Sox organization, the 22-year-old Anderson saw his stock slip last season when he hit only .233 with a .328 on-base percentage and nine home runs for Portland.
But he hit .355 this year and had a 1.086 OPS through 17 games thanks to five doubles and five home runs. He also had 15 RBIs.
I'm sure some will speculate as to what this could mean for the major league team and perhaps it well could mean something down the road. But Anderson had to prove he could mash in the Eastern League before he could go to the International League and he did that.

Seen this kid along with Daniel Bard

Both great prospects we have had in our farm systems

Good luck to him

A homegrown power hitter might cure a few of our problems.......just sayin.

Part of a package for Adrian.....
People keep going back to this.

As of right now, SD is leading their division and playing .630 ball. Gonzalez is very cheap, and they have a nice club option for 2011. Granted, that option will make him more valuable in a trade, which may interest Jed, but still. Unless they completely tank in May and early June (and maybe even then,) he's more likely to be traded during the offseason or late next spring than this year.

That. Hoyer is not trading Gonzalez to the Sox. Not now. Padres control him through 2011.

That and Kyle Blanks will step in to play 1b when (if) Adrian is gone. If the sox were to trade for Gonzalez, it's likely that Andersen (and Rizzo) wouldn't even be a part of the package
