Based on his hot start in Portland, Lars Anderson has been promoted to AAA Pawtucket. Good news, as last year he struggled a bit at Portland. Hope he continues his development with an eye on a possible 2011 move to the big league club.
http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/2010/04/anderson_promot.htmlConsidered one of the better prospects in the Red Sox organization, the 22-year-old Anderson saw his stock slip last season when he hit only .233 with a .328 on-base percentage and nine home runs for Portland.
But he hit .355 this year and had a 1.086 OPS through 17 games thanks to five doubles and five home runs. He also had 15 RBIs.
I'm sure some will speculate as to what this could mean for the major league team and perhaps it well could mean something down the road. But Anderson had to prove he could mash in the Eastern League before he could go to the International League and he did that.
