http://blog.chron.com/ultimatetexan...atriots-proved-prosperous-for-keshawn-martin/Being traded from the Texans to the New England Patriots in exchange for a fifth-round draft pick has proven to be a prosperous change of scenery for wide receiver and kick returner Keshawn Martin.
Martin is now one game away from making it to the Super Bowl as he caught two passes for 57 yards in an AFC divisional-round playoff win over the Kansas City Chiefs that sent them to the AFC championship game next week.
Martin landed a two-year contract extension this week worth $2.975 million that includes a $600,000 signing bonus, non-guaranteed base salaries of $850,000 and $1 million in 2016 and 2017. The deal has a roster bonus up to $200,000 in 2016, paid $12,500 per game active, along with a $750,000 incentive clause for receptions.
In 2017, he has a $100,000 roster bonus due on the fifth day of the league year and a $200,000 roster bonus paid $12,500 per game active.
Martin has caught 24 passes for 269 yards and two touchdowns in nine games played with eight starts since being traded along with a sixth-round draft pick to the Patriots.
Against the Texans in a December win, Martin caught three passes for 23 yards, including a 2-yard touchdown reception. He averaged 11.5 yards on four punt returns and 22.3 yards on three kickoff returns.
