Malcolm Butler wants new contract

What tender do they give him. The pats do reserve the right. If they only give him a 7th round tender. A team could overpay for him. That how Miami made Denver overpay for CJ anderson

If he has another great season, he will got the maximum tender, assuming he has not been extended by that time.

Why?

Cornerbacks just not that important in the modern NFL?

If I was forced to name one of them first I'd name Collins, but there isn't a big gap between any of those guys.

Flip a coin and then find a way to sign all of them.

I agree. And it has been FOREVER since we had a legit CB save for the one season with Revis.

No one is saying not pay him or let him walk. I just don't think he should be first in line to get paid.

It does seem to pay him before the other two is crazy because of the RFA status but IF you can tempt him into a contract of security now but a little less long term I say they do it. then worry about the huge list of free agents next offseason.

He won't be first to get paid. Not as a RFA.

One of the three is getting franchised realistically.

A step further, IMO, absent a terrible season and/or other issues up with which Bill will not put, it's the Max Tender.

Cheers

I don't know, I don't think this kid goes from teary-eyed Super Bowl hero to disgruntled veteran in only one season. I think Butler gets it. I'm sure he wants a new deal but doubt that he would hold out or do anything Revis-ish.

And really that should be his attitude. Play hard and you will get paid. He has no leverage anyways so just go out and play well and the contract will come. He is going to have maybe the best front 7 in football right in front in him and an all pro safety behind him. It does not get much better than that IMO.
