The Browns didn't hand in the waiver to the NFL on Friday. Maybe they'll do it today or maybe they held out bc a trade is in the works.
If he's waived, $7.25 M is ridiculous for every team but 1.
The Jaguars.
They have plenty of cap space, Trevor Lawrence needs a WR and, most importantly, how else are they going to get veteran talent?
2022 and 2023 of his current contract were NOT guaranteed and the Browns removed the last 2 years of his contract. The Jags can renegotiate to sign him for longer on a lesser contract.
At the least, they can FT if he balls and then sign him. If he wants to walk, they may get a comp pick.
Jags new GM Trent Baalke has a terrible record of drafting WRs. In all his years with the 49ers, Baalke failed on every pick at WR, including 1st rnd pick AJ Jenkins, Illinois in 2012. In 2013, Jenkins was traded to the Chiefs for equally bad Jon Baldwin in a player swap. Jenkins had 1 catch in his career for 6 yards; it was for the Chiefs. Baalke's other 5 picks at WR came in the 4th or 6th rounds. They are players you never heard of. With 6 picks at WR with Jenkins being a 1st round pick, Baalke's 6 drafted WRs have 0 catches for his teams. 0.
As you see, Baalke is far worse than BB at drafting WRs. This is exactly why Baalke should claim OBJ.
At the same time, Baalke has drafted only 1 WR higher than the 4th round which means, like BB, he doesn't value WRs very highly. And this is why he won't claim OBJ.
