Big Brown got smoked, and all I can say is suck on that ESPN. I cannot stand how they latch on to a sporting event and instead of, god forbid, covering the actual event, they showed 7 hours of bullshit sob stories and pointless coverage by nameless sports commentators.

So I guess the deaf kid is gonna cry, the orphaned daughter will follow suit, and anyone and everyone who had dreams riding on the Triple Crown drought ending had their dreams crushed. And somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children shout, but there is no joy at Belmont.

Hrm..I saw none of the pre race stuff thankfully but I love that gorgeous horse. Guess a FRACING CRACK in the hoof is going to affect the animal no matter how hard the trainer tries to say it won't. That's the part that pisses me off..seems like a lie!
 
I'm kind of glad Big Brown lost too. His cocky owner and snobby New York owners drove me nuts. Oh well...it's still not as bad as this:

I've just never been a fan. Probably because when I was younger, i was visiting a farm with my 2nd grade class and one kicked me in the head. I had to get a bunch of stiches. true story. Ever since then, I just havn't really liked them.

Oh yeah they are powerful animals who can hurt even the most skilled rider but your adult supervisors should have made sure that didn't happen..not really the horses fault kind of like idiot dog owners who don't train their dogs. That sucks! Must have been really really scary and painful.

I tried to ride once after I moved here to AZ but realized that I have no place on an animal with that kind of power so I just admire them froma distance and never walk behind one.

yeah, i know it wasn't the horses fault. but ever since then, i've just been terrified of them. i don't hate them...but whenever i see one it reminds me of that time in 2nd grade.

No chit. What is it with BSPN? First they choke on the manly organ of a Colt (i.e. Peyton Manning) now they've been going on about this freakin' horse like he was Christ reincarnated. As much as they were rooting for the Pats to lose last year, they were rooting for this bloody horse. And when that other one was scratched this morning, they were all :dbanana: :cute: woohoo "no WAY Big Brown can lose now!!!" How'd that work out for you, dopers?

That has to be one of the most douchebaggery comments in an overall douchebaggery post that I've ever read.

You don't like ESPN, take it out on them. Not the horse, or a @#&*ing kid who can barely hear and is slowly going blind.

I enjoy watching the races. Seeing a Triple Crown would be the first for me. I do agree about the Pre-race coverage. 7 hours of coverage for a 2 minute race is stupid. Big Brown's health doesn't look too good. His camp declined to comment. They race these horses too young!! It's ashame because horses truly are a beautiful animal.

I don't think you get me there friend. No where did I say I was glad the deaf kid is crying, but it is a statement to what must be happening. Can you imagine how crushed he is? Especially when ESPN makes a story that makes it seem like Big Brown winning a race will cure all his ailments. It's called exploitation. And I can guarantee you he is somewhere crying. But I'm glad that Big Brown didn't win so that I wouldn't have to see stories all week about the people behind the race.

Don't put words in my mouth and cast your holier than thou judgments on me.

I heard that part of the reason that one had to be put down a month or so ago was because today the horses are raised to be as lightweight as possible to maximize speed. Trouble is, by doing so the horses have lighter bones that break much easier.
 
I bet UPS is glad they bought the rights to put their logo on the Big Browns saddle. Hehe. UPS, when it positively has to get there dead last.
