Just incredibly amazing...

That's incredible.

She reminds me of a boy from, I believe, Mexico, that plays the guitar. He was on Youtube at 4. Now he's a few years older.

Listened for 15 seconds then turned it Off. Nothing personal against the girl But I Hate Opera Music.

I DO BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE FAKE!!!!!!!!!

and that is no joke. But thats a discussion for a completely different thread.

Mrs. W. just reported to me that Jackie managed to not win this contest in the finals tonight?

Is there someone who is actually more talented than her, or is it just a style/popularity question?

The guy who won is pretty good, he's named Michael Grimm, and he's another Southern boy with a great backstory, like the "Chicken Plucker" who won it last year or the year before. Unlike that guy, though, Grimm can sing his ASS off. He's a thin white dude who can sing soul like a fat brother. He bends his notes and moves 'em around, and in general has a great voice and style. Plus he plays guitar.

This season did have mad talent, though. The top four finishers all could've easily won in another year. Fighting Gravity is a great act and will easily have a show in Vegas a la Blue Man Group. Prince Poppycock, for all his gay theatrics, really can sing his ass off as well, so he'll have a career. As for Jackie Evancho, for a kid her age, her voice is ridiculous. Having said that, 1) it's definitely not a finished polished voice yet, and, more importantly, 2) I think America realized a ten-year-old logistically can't really handle doing an American tour and a Vegas headline show. No worries on her, though, she's going to have an amazing career in opera or on Broadway. (Last night she sang with Sarah Brightman; I'm sure it's already on YouTube.)

I was thinking in terms of 'vegas show' and she's just too young right now to be in vegas, the kid will have a career one way or another, I don't think there's a rush for her.. The 'defying gravity' group looked set to headline a vegas show either way, win or lose, so that had dude was a good choice. Good for him.. that little girl is so adorable I figured she'd be a lock, I think he thought so too judging from the look on his face.

I just saw the video of the announcement - the look on Sharon's face was priceless when they announced it. Just utter confusion. The "clearly there must be some mistake" look.

Couldn't believe how well Jackie handled it. What 10 year old isn't crying at that point? Answer: none.

Which proves a variation of cadmonkey's theory: it's not a lip sync snowjob, it's an age snowjob. She's actually 40 but ages like Robin Williams in the movie Jack.

I only caught a few of the shows toward the end this year.Clearly, this was the deepest pool of talent they've ever had. I think the guy that won, Micheal Grimm, is better than most of the Idol winners ff the last few years.

I still think that Terry Fator was the best act to come out of any of these shows.

I have to agree about Terry Fator. We saw his Vegas show and it was hilarious.

Michael was my favorite from the beginning although I could see myself going to see a show from Prince Poppycock also. He's such a great entertainer.

Michael has a voice that is unique and awesome in itself.

Nothing against Jackie...but I couldn't listen to opera for very long so I probably wouldn't go see her.

There was a TON of talent this year, though.

I'm glad Grimm won 'cause he really seems like a nice guy. Very genuine. When he won, he bent down to talk to the 10-year-old for a minute. Way cool.

As for the 10-year-old, she's freakin' adorable (she looks like a little Jodie Foster except even cuter, Jodie was more of a tomboy). She's got a career in opera or on Broadway. Singing with Sarah Brightman was probably such a thrill for her, it probably came close to what winning the whole contest would've felt like.

The thing I like about AGT is that you know everyone gets something out of it. It probably draws the attention of every music mogul and artistic director in the country. That older black woman (IIRC the mother of the chubby actress from "Precious")? She used to sing in the subway. I guarantee you she's getting a record contract from someone. The other young kid singer who was eliminated in the Top Ten? Disney'll snap him up, LOL. Defying Gravity and Prince Poppycock, as I said before, are almost definitely Vegas-bound. Hell, even the stupid "I'm in my studio, studio" chick will probably release an album. The acrobatic couple will end up in Cirque du Soleil, etc.,.

What about the kite flying kid? I'm thinking probably not.

I would take the kids to see the lightning guys for sure. I can see why they didn't win, but they've got a great shot at being a high-tech Blue Man Group sort of thing.

Actually, I bet you could do some really cool shit combining the lightning nerds, Fighting Gravity, and BMG. Lightning flashes that illuminate the blue faces, blacklights in the dark with different stuff when the electricity lights up the stage. Could really be insane, actually.

I was thinking that some of those acts I probably couldn't watch for a 2 hour show. There's only so much you could do with some of the acts.

But take the lightning guys, Fighting Gravity, maybe the kite flyer as an opener and a few other acts and you've got quite a show.

I actually voted for Grimm because I love his voice. Jackie is adorable and amazing but I would rather her get something else instead of a show in Vegas and I'm sure she will.

The best thing about AGT is that you can be yourself on the show. Michael Grimm had said that he thought about trying out for American Idol but realized he wouldn't be able to be himself on that show and the American Idol type just isn't him.

I read a really good interview after he won and he said that as soon as he heard Jackie sing, he knew the competition was over. When he won he was excited inside for his grandparents so he could build them a house but he was also sad that Jackie didn't win.

Yeah, it's called "America's Got Talent: The Tour". It's the top 10 finalists, and it's already almost sold-out at the MGM Theater at Foxwoods.

Yeah. I was thinking of going to that. I was thinking that some casino could make a show with a bunch of AGT acts that would stay there all the time.

Kind of a variety show or something.

Never heard of Jackie Evancho before tonight. Just saw her for the first a half hour ago a PBS special. Regrettably, I missed PFL's thread here last September. Looked around and here it was.

I'll add this -

Here she is singing my favorite Christmas carol at the national tree lighting ceremony.

10 years old.
