He seems destined to be a Bungle.

But his athleticism is intriguing. I’d kick tires again with a short money incentive deal. Worked with Chung.

Chung was always a hard-worker though. The Patriots simply didn't have a true position for him, since he's not a classic strong/free safety. Once they decided the Star would be a staple of their 'base' defense, essentially, a 'star' was born.

I can only imagine the eleventy injuries he has to rehab this offseason on top of his arm.

Collins was the opposite, lazy, skated by on athleticism, and if the Browns are going to cut him, I mean, you might be right, because it could be the end of the road for him. A 'come to jesus' contract negotiation, perhaps.

Eagles looking at a Tag and Trade scenario for Foles

What sort of price are QB needy teams willing to pay to get Foles?

I mean, 3rd round pick?

He's 32, right? Hasn't been a consistent starter since like, 2013.

Nick Foles Informs Eagles He's Voiding His Option, Will Become Free Agent bit.ly/2HWrm9t

I think that's a dumb move, he's leaving a free $20mm on the table.

There are enough bad QBs around to make Foles worth a 3rd rounder. There are a uncertainty all over the guy, but he was clutch when he got to play during the last two seasons. I'm sure he could to better than Bortles in Jacksonville.

Miami has cap room, but no QB, no top 10 pick, and they play in a division that is owned year after year.

I think it's a bad move on his part. Shoulda stayed here 2 more years at least and then took a job NOT in our division with a more stable team.

I mean, we'll see. We all know how this will go. He'll tank as requested, then once the team is a year away from competing (say, a competitive 6-10 season), he'll get fired for 'Guy Who Knew Sean McVay in Nursery School'.

Now, is it a bad move? Having 'Head Coach of an NFL Team' on your resume, when you're still pretty young, and having everyone know how that went down, would make him pretty attractive to a lot of teams still.

I mean, people still want Joshy as a HC, and he hasn't HC'd a game since, what, 2010? And for as much shit and nonsense as the dumbass Broncos fans give him, he set the groundwork to making that team competitive for the next 5 year run they had, cutting dead weight. His big mistake was drafting Tebow, but look at all the 'success' Denver has had drafting a QB since then. Other than lucking into Manning, not much.

He's a good fit there, to be sure.

I just don't think he's going to get the return the Eagles think he's going to get.

That being said, the Jags are one of two teams with negative cap space and tied a lot of money in Bortles, so it's not very likely anyways.

I think a cut/trade of Fournette would help them out a lot in that respect. Cap Space can usually be manipulated if it's only for a guy or two. I mean, maybe they trade Bortles and a third or something. Who knows.

I really don't think any team would take on Bortles 21m cap hit for 2019. 16,5 m dead cap (if cut). That would have to be a deal like the one with Ozweiler where the Broncos had to pay someone a draft pick to take him.

Edit: I'm starting to remember that it wasn't the Broncos. Texans?

Browns, from Texans.

Love the Foles move.

They pick up option of $20 mil.

He pays $2 mil opt out. Now he’s FA or they have to Franchise him for $25. Net gain of $3 mil. Or he gets to negotiate UFA contract in a place of his choice.

There’s plenty of landing spots.

And if Phillie tags him and doesn’t get the hoped bidding war they take it further up the pooper.
Excellent!

I think I trade Wentz and keep Foles if I'm the Eagles. Wentz should bring far more value in a trade and I honestly don't think he's the long term answer for that team. Something about Foles just clicks with the Eagles. They trade him to any other team and he falls flat on his face IMO.

I know that seems like the right thing, but its probably not the right move with age and money and things like that.

Not sure . Depends on the package for Wentz. He’s young enough to get you a 1sr, 2nd, and 3rd at least.

Foles provides everything Wentz does at this point.

Use the 1st on Wentz replacement. You get a pipeline QB on 5 yr salary scale. Plus a 2 and 3 to boost roster.

Hmmmm....

Yikes. He's legit 76. Is 80 year old Tom Moore next?

On one hand, good self-scouting by Reich to determine he doesn't have all the answers, but this guy?

There's a real issue with a lot of these young QBs isn't there.

So many come in, very talented and many have great 1st seasons but then they just fade and go backwards. So many of them, RGIII, Bortles, Goff, Mariota, Wentz, Carr, Vince Young, Tannehill, Watson, Winston....

The NFL is a very fast learning league, one year you have a 46 defense that looks unstoppable and the next Bill Walsh has you figured out and you're back to your level.

Even talented QBs like Cam Newton, I mean what has he done since the SB?

And therefore the big question is how will Mahomes do next season? Coaches saw what BB did in the AFCCG. Will he be found out? I know he looks extremely talented but time will tell.

How will Mayfield look? Josh Allen?

So what is it that stops them improving and being consistent? Lack of Intelligence? I mean McVay has to tell Goff everything pre-snap

I don't know. The only real stud out there under 30 and he's been around a few years now imho is Andrew Luck. He stands out way apart from the rest.

you can blame Shanahan for what happened to RGIII. He nearly got him killed leaving him in that playoff game against Seattle. Was never the same after that.
