Pats at Bills: Official GAme Thread

Oh you don't know the half of it...

He's been complaining that in the Patriots game, we had an advantage as we had more rest as we had played the Thursday game. He's also saying we clearly tried to embarrass them in that game and how proud he was that they fought back in that 4th Qtr against a team trying to "stick it to them".

Even when asked then about facing Eli Manning he said he liked him as he beat Brady twice in SBs. All of this was said today.

I mean seriously....this is after the Dolphins game, with the Pats game well in the rear-view mirror and instead of focussing solely on the Giants, he's still showing his obsession with the Patriots.

It's pathetic really.

They beat Miami by like 100 points.

How about "We brought the bully to Miami and punched them in the mouth, and now we're going to do the same to the Giants this week"

Even THAT would still be Rex, but holy shit, you don't play the Patriots again until the end of November.

What's the spread in the Giants game?

If your coach is still focused on the Patriots, a team you play 2 full months from now - what kind of attention is he putting into this weeks game? What kind of attention are the players putting into this game?

As much as you'd like to think differently, the Bills simply aren't good enough to roll out the footballs and beat the dogshit out of the Giants. They need to like, come up with a game plan.
Something tells me he is focused on the game at hand and your penchant for creating this "obsession" narrative soothes you into a false sense of a "we're the victim" mentality. It's rather unbecoming of a Superbowl Champ. You guys should be happy, having fun and enjoying your title; but no, you are looking in the rear view mirror wondering why teams are trying to get better...and then, when a commentator asks a question about the AFC East, he is supposed to NOT reference the Pats because that shows he is obsessed?? If he didn't talk about the Pats (the top team in the AFC East) you would feel disrespected ("What a bum...we kicked his ass and he's afraid. He won't talk about how good we are...blah blah blah"). Broken record....and not just any old broken record...Taylor Swift.popcorn

With respect, that's completely wrong. This was Rex in an interview today and he is the one who brought up the Patriots game and complaining about extra days the Pats had etc.

We're highlighting this as we have seen all of this before with Rex, you won't have seen this. And it should concern you as a Bills fan. It's a single minded obsession and you'll see it frequently now, even though as Tommy says, we have two months until the next Bills game!

Penchant for creating obsession narratives? Your coach is still talking about the Patriots 2 weeks after he played them.

Personally, I'm stunned. He's always been chatty, but he's never been like this before. Not with the Jets. He's never talked about the Patriots weeks after the game. He'd wait until the next game was coming up.

I'd be really nervous if I were you.

Also I, and most people here, don't give two shits about whether anyone ever talks about the Patriots. We don't typically care about "power rankings" or MVPs or other such nonsense. There are a couple, but it's certainly not representative of most people here. This isn't a "power rankings" kind of board.

This was his sole mention of the Giants today. "I like Eli Manning because he beat the Patriots twice".

If that's ok with you, then great. I'm just saying, if it were my coach, I'd be absolutely livid.

FALSE SENSE? WTF do you mean by that. Rex hasn't shut about the Pats since the day he got to New Jersey. He's a pretty good coach (many of us think) but He is Captain Ahab and Bill is his white whale. Any other explanation is delusional. IMO.

Cheers, BostonTim

Oh and another thing (Paste it to the current pet peeves thing gooing on.) Time and again Players, coaches and owners are asked questions by the media and then say stupid and/or inappropriate things in reply. The fans standard assine reply to the criticism that naturally and correctly follows?

"Uh, He was asked a question What's he sposed to do, not answer it?" Stupid.

No, he's sposed to think twice before saying something dumb and he's sposed to own what he said, not try to blame the press.

The article I read, which was saying the exact same thing as we are, was from Syracuse.com and I don't think that's a hotbed of Patriots Propaganda.

Oh yeah, tons of Patriots fans in the snow belt and the North Country.

(I'd say it's probably 60/40 Giants to Bills fans though)

Once again, what Rex says (or doesn't say, for that matter) should be of no concern to you. We are inferior, inexperienced and our coach is a goofball....but he's our goofball and this is our team. Like it or not, I accept them for who they are. Since you guys have this propensity to tell me how fearful I should be of Rex, let me first say: Thank you for caring and watching my back. More importantly, however, you guys should seriously get a grip and stop listening to Rex. The fact that he discusses the Patriots (the Almighty, Omniscient and High Exalted Ruler of the NFL) in a competitive manner from time to time should be interpreted as a compliment...I suppose he could talk about the Jets or Dolphins, but the Pats are the rulers of the AFC East. Is Rex a goof - yes. Is he a good coach? - I say yes and if it means he answers questions about the AFC East and who is currently on top or whether he would like to win the division - shoot yeah, have at it son.

Is this your version of investigative journalism?? I see a Pulitzer in your future.

My family's from there, I've lived there, and visit regularly.

Sarcasm is when I say "There are tons of Patriots Fans in the snow belt and North Country", because there are none.

Actuality is when I put, in parenthesis, underneath that, "It's actually 60/40 Giants to Bills Fans", which it is.

I didn't say "In Buffalo". I thought it was understood that I was talking about Syracuse and points North, which I was.

Gosh, you're so sensi. :coffee:

Holy crap, you're just like Rex. Sensi.

Never mind, forget I said anything. We're just trying to give you a heads up, and that this was new behavior from him, and the outcomes that would be likely from such a thing. No one said anything about the Patriots. No one said "The Bills Suck".

Most coaches would talk about the game they just played, and the game they're about to play, instead of focusing on a loss from two weeks previous. Rex actually used to be like that. Now, he's not.

The new Rex smell is going to wear off soon enough. I always liked Bills fans, and was hoping that Rex has matured and this would be a good thing for you guys. Maybe it still will, but it would make me incredibly nervous as a fan, that my coach doesn't seem to give a rat's ass about what team we're playing, only one other team in the division. Like, he doesn't get you've got 14 other games to play.

When the Jets were good, he didn't do this. He didn't.

I got your sarcasm...I hope you understood mine.

Yeah but sitting around polishing out knobs all day gets boring. If we didn't talk about inferior teams what the hell is there to talk about.

Rex Ryan this morning on Mike and Mike: “We’re still looking for King Kong. He did not show up that day.”

Why is Rex still talking about this? Obsessed.

Because he was asked about it, ffs. What did you want hm to do, pull a BB and reply with "we're getting ready for the season....." or some other non-answer?

I mean goddamn, M&M specifically referred the the King Kong quote. Should he have just ignored it??

I thought it was the right answer "we're still waiting for him" then he went on to say 30 other teams in the NFL are waiting for him, too

Why don't you go beat up Mike and Mike for asking him the goddamn question in the first place. They asked, he brushed it off with a quick one liner. How is this still being focused on the Patriots?
