Mac Jones Injury Watch - Update 30 Sept - Mac is out v Packers

If this season turns into the dumpster fire I think it will, then the Pat’s will have a top 5 or 6 draft pick next season.
I don’t watch college and don’t know much about the upcoming QBs, but I hope they take a long hard look at replacing Mac.
Everyone in this forum loves him, I know. But he’s gonna be just good enough to keep his job year in and year out. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again. His ceiling is being the next Andy Dalton. That’s not a total insult, Dalton has had a good long career.
But if there’s a guy available in the next draft who can be special I sure hope they move Mack for good draft capital and go get him.
It’s not that they love Mac, it’s that they’re so desperate for Bill to have found the next quarterback post Brady given Bradys been playing the best football of his career since he left New England and won a SB. It’s really about being right more than about the player himself. But it could not have got more wrong precisely because Bill surrounded Mac with terrible coaching on the offensive side and for whatever reason decided to install a partial new offense as well that has turned Mac into a pick machine.

Absolutely. If there is a top Qb prospect in the top 5 you go get him.

Hopefully some of the folks that follow college hard core can let us know about the QBs coming out.
Young out of Bama will be top pick, if not, not far behind. CJ Stroud out of Ohio State could go high.

We won't be able to get either IMHO just due to where we stand with picks and worse teams may not switch with us if they need one.

And I do love Mac , been watching him before he came to NE. Broad statement about Mac not accurate to many of us.

Thank you. If we are top 5 then we have a chance if we bundle picks. Depends a lot though where we are positioned.

Lombardi came out yesterday I believe and said that Bill was going to bench Mac. If that's the case, then I have to believe Bill has his eye closely on this draft.

Who do you think is your audience here? Who do you think appreciates that you are here with your constant BS?

I must assume the assumption is one needs a "top 5" QB to win the SB and or that only QBs taken in the "top 5" are destined to be elite?

Some Recent QBs who developed into elites (All-pro, SB Winners) over time

Tom Brady (6th Round)
Kurt Warner (UDFA)
Rich Gannon (4th rounder by the Pats to play RB)
Aaron Rogers (remember his draft day experience)

The more fun list - A selection of recent "top 5" QBs who maybe didn't work out
David Carr
Joey Harrington
Alex Smith (bet the niners wish they had this one back)
JaMarcus Russell - LOL
Mark Sanchez
Sam Bradford
Blake Bortles
Jamis Winston
Marcus Marriota
Jared Goff
Carson Wentz
Mitch Trubusky
Baker Mayfield
Sam Darnold

So after three games you are saying the new offence is trash and has no hope of developing. Do you not know that it was not until 2007 with Randy Moss that Brady had a season of less than 12 INTs. Just stop pretending to be an expert.

And even the guys on WEEI said Lombardi was blowing that out of his ass. HIs son left the Patriots to join Josh in Vegas. Lombardi now has no inside info on the Patriots anymore.

i'd be interested to see this as a direct quote from lombardi

far from desparate, i'm not an "omg need elite qb" person. i like the qualities mac has, and think those are hard to find. would rather deal with just above avg physically and great other qualities than the other way around. if he's not the guy, so be it. but it's far too early to tell that.

I don't believe that Alex Smith belongs on that list. In my opinion he was certainly an above average QB for both the 9ers and Chiefs. Harbaugh fell in love with Kap which lead to him going to the Chiefs.. The Chiefs saw something in Mahomes and hit the jackpot. Never had a chance in Washington playing with inferior talent then almost losing his leg.

You don't understand. Mazz needs you (and all of us) to confess our sins and beg for Tom to come back. Beg for her forgiveness. She won't stop until that happens. And if Mac is successful then it will never happen and she simply can't have that.

Are you seriously comparing this offense to 2007?

And we must admit that BB was just a statue during that 20 year run. Some even gave him some of the credit or equal credit and that must be purged forever.

You should at least read your own sources before you claim this. Lombardi didn't say anything about Mac being benched. He said he was surprised Mac turning the ball over so much.

Then they have Edelman's quote saying ball security is job security and the writer was speculating if Mac could potentially be benched.

This is either lazy arguments from your end or you're just trolling. Please do better.
