The Golf thread

Masters is a little less then a month away. did I hear right that some of the LIV guys are in due to meeting criteria like the won recently or something like that? maybe it's another major. I think it would cool for some of those guys to mix in once in a while. imagine how this last tournament might have gone if you mixed back in some of the top LIV guys. I enjoyed it as is, but with Rory missing the cut and Rahm out with illness, it lacked star-power. glad to see some of those lesser names get more spotlight - I'm rooting for Viktor Hovland as a fellow Norwegian* blockhead (my wife calls me/us that :) ) - but I hope for some of the majors there's a blending of both.

* I'm only part Norwegian... but have the blockhead part so there you go :coffee:

LIV? No thanks. Yes, some are getting in due the masters having its own set of rules uninfluenced (mostly) by the PGA. They would sue the club and win. Keep them out. If one wins the Masters or several finish high enough it could trigger enough WRP to get into more events.

They sold their golfing souls for money. They new the rules if the did. Now they want the dirty Saudi $ AND to play on the PGA/DP tours. F'em.

don't get me wrong... I hope LIV collapses and they come begging to get back into the PGA (and Phil can just F off entirely), but it will be more compelling with that PGA v. LIV undercurrent..... isn't McIlroy in a pissing contest with several LIV guys?
and I don't want a LIV guy winning. I am interested to see if the difference effects how the defectors play... I haven't watched any LIV tournaments TBH

it's happening so lets sit back and watch.

It is happening. I've never found myself openly rooting against golfers before, but I will when this happens.

I agree about Phil.

I'm still recovering from major surgery. So, March Madness, The Masters, and the NFL Draft are all thing that help me get through it. By the time the draft is over, I should be 90% and ready to try some golf.
I usually play a traditional round the first or second day of the draft. Possible but not probable this year,

Keep getting better.

Just read that the LIV tv ratings were even worse than last week. Head to head with the PGA, they had about 1/10th of the audience.
Even The World's Funniest Animals on some cable network beat them badly.

Love it!!!

To be honest, I’m surprised they were even 10% of the Valspar.

Was this at the match play tournament this week. I understand match play but I still don't understand how it works with so many players.
I was watching some of that the last 2 days. interesting and a nice way to mix it up from the usual format.
i believe there are/were 16 "groups" with 4 players each. they play each other in the group over three days (wed, thur, fri) and can get a win, tie or loss. TBH from there I assume it's some kind of knock out round or something, but couldn't explain it without digging it up.
