Boycott NBC-Peacock

Eventually I think all NFL games will be on streaming services. Eventually all tv will be streaming. There is already more of a trend to be streaming more and more. I work in tv on the local level and have for almost 23 years, I have seen a trend to go from over the air to streaming more and more.

Also, the nfl makes major money off tv broadcasting rights. That is where it all lies, the money.

I want to watch the Dolphins lose though.

The high temp in Kansas City on Saturday is supposed to be 11 degrees going down to a low of -2. Kickoff is at 7:00 pm. The 'Phins really fucked up losing to the Bills, but I won't root for the Chefs.

There are articles after articles that are reporting fan outrage over this game being shown exclusively on Peacock.
But then a poll shows up showing that 64% of "NFL fans" approve of the game being on a paid application. But when you look closer, the poll was funded by NBC and the NFL.

This isn't much different than Thursday night games on Amazon. As CF said above, everything will be streaming eventually. I already pay for Peacock premium and Paramount Plus mainly to watch local Patriots games as that is the only thing I watch live anymore. Every other show or program can be streamed after the fact and is a much better experience than live or DVR.

Disagree UT.
The games on Prime are regular season games and a lot of them are crap games, with no real national interest.
This is a playoff game. Any real football fans across the entire country has a strong interest in watching playoff games.
People in places like Wichita Kansas who, I assume are Chiefs fans, are getting screwed. Imagine Patriots fans in Springfield being blackmailed by NBC and the NFL to watch a Patriots playoff game.

No, the local markets can still watch on their normal broadcast station. That's required.

But I get what you mean about the national game and how this is kind of a strong arm tactic that leaves a sour taste.

Yes the local markets do carry the game. I checked the NBC station in Wichita Kansas and they are not carrying the game, but NBC KC will.
I assume Springfield MA would be in the same boat if it were a Patriots game, only NBC Boston would carry t he game.

At least with Amazon you didn't need to subscribe to 'Prime" to watch the games. You could watch it on your regular Amazon account.

My bad, I didn't check the reach of the signal.

Has anyone heard of apollo group TV? I've been using this for the past 3 years and it's been quiet legit. I get the full year service and it comes out to be $14/ month. You can watch any games you'd like, watch PPV's, movies old and new and TV shows. Have no complaints maybe other than not being able to record the games or do a quick rewind. There's an on-demand section to watch the game after, but for NFL games this year it's taken a couple days for the game to be uploaded on there for whatever reason. This is the link if anybody is interested Apollo Group TV – Watch for the BEST!

Will subscribe, then cancel.

They paid 110 million for one game. They would need 18.3 mil. subscriptions for one month to recoup the cost. By comparison, Amazon averaged 11.86 million viewers (not subscriptions) per game. Take out all of those in Miami and KC, there's no way they'll get that back IF people cancel immediately.

So that's what I'll do. Also, The Holdovers is on Peacock, heard it's really good. Will watch it there instead of paying VOD.

I paid $5.99 to watch the game around Christmas and the month also covers the Wild Card game. As soon as that's over I'm canceling.

My wife got Peacock on her own credit card (because i didnt really want it and pay for cable, netflix, prime, hulu, disney, etc etc etc)

if i canceled it on her she'd murder me

Some people are not seeing the bigger picture.
It starts this Saturday. If people don't hit NBC and the NFL where it hurts, then next year it might be 2 games. The year after it could be more. The time to protest is a big way is now. That's the only music that they dance to.

TBH, I'd rather spend $5 on Peacock/mo than $200/mo on cable just so I can have my over-the-air channels. Not everyone lives in the city.

i live in the country. most of my friends out here just bought hellafied roof antennas and pay 0. though my one friend had an installer who didn't listen to her and failed to install the rotating option for the antenna. now she doesn't get cbs at all in the winter. 😄

I pay about $200 all in for YoutubeTV, Apple TV+, HBOMax and a couple of others. That also includes 1.1GB internet.

It is nice that my town has TWO internet providers (WOW and Xfinity) which keeps costs down. Folks in towns around me only have Xfinity and pay at least double. Their town management takes CASH from Comcast to keep competitors out. It should be criminal.
