Looking at the Patriots 2024

Obviously things ended really badly with Bill. It is what it is. Like I said, we all have choices in our fandom ...

Forget Bill for a moment. You don't place any blame on Kraft for lack of cash spending and lack of infrastructure maintenance/improvement over the last 10 years?
It's ok. You can say it. We know you know the truth. Kraft is a stingy MF with his money and it's going to be the undoing of his franchise.

How do you think Mayo felt being told to walk back his 'burn cash' comment to reporters? Used? Belittled? Embarrassed? Like a puppet? All those things, maybe.

and not just kraft. other guys who bb HIRED like wolf, mayo, eyc. wolf has absolutely ZERO reason to talk about how they'd be "less hardass". mayo had ZERO reason to stick his thumb in the pie and say "what a good boy am i!" with his grinning "i'm not bill" soliloquies.
@chevss454 is right: fire who you want, shittalk at your peril. ironically, the krafts are going post divorce giz while bb is being tb about it. keeping his mouth shut.

That's it? "No one is forcing you to watch/root for the team"? That's your answer?

That's exactly how Kraft is behaving to a "T" - no fear of alienating fans - "don't like it? Go screw. "

All I can say is this plan by the Krafts better show positive results quickly or the Krafts will face a very strong backlash vote of no confidence by fans at the turnstiles and NFL store.
Volin, of all people, saw through his agenda immediately and exposed it to the public in a scathing article. Another reporter I know well also sees through Krafts' motives but is biding his time to be 100% accurate in public only because that's his nature. Privately he agrees that the Krafts have acted poorly. Jerry Thornton, Hawg's brother, has also let the Krafts have it with both barrels (but I expect the best of Jerry will come after the last episode of the Dynasty).

It's not the firing of Bill that is arousing public ire. It's the constant jabs at Bill and his policies by all corporate employees encouraged by Krafts policy that started with his presser 2 hours after the "mutual parting" press conference. In Eliot Wolf's presser yesterday there were no less than a dozen mentions of how the new regime will be better. It's the total lack of respect given to Belichick's body of work and the absolute lack of gratitude for the millions and millions of dollars he made for the Krafts. Fans see Bill as the GOAT coach and now this stumbling, drunken rich owner slurs nonsense at us that Bill was terrible the whole time?! Bullshit. I see a strong backlash coming for Robert and little Jonny.

I'll weigh in on this as a season ticket holder for 33 years.

I'm on the fence about renewing due to the recent events, not just the cheap shots at Belichick, but decisions made about the stadium, team and general good will to the fans. My wife has convinced me to renew for one more season, but my patience will be very thin.

Start with Kraft sinking $250 Million into something that will always be underused. For those who may not know, that new club he built requires STM's to not only purchase their regular seats, but also purchase the right to use that club, more than doubling the price if you choose to be allowed into it. For 2 tickets, it's not like you can now have 4 bodies in the stadium, it's 2 bodies for 4 spots, I can't be in two places at one time. It's insane to think that the average Joe Schmuck like me will pay double for two sets of seats when I can only use one at a time. There were not a lot of people using that facility this past season. That's just an example of his contempt for the paying fans. And, of course, the concessions are high priced and the food is not worth half the price (I rarely get anything in the stadium). And it shows when visiting fans are slowly taking over the stadium, something that has not happened since the Rust and MacPherson days.

They must be worried. I've received multiple calls from the ticket office since last October when I never heard from them in the previous 32 years. They offered me a couple of nice game time free perks last year (we got to go on the field post-game after the Washington game, got to go up to the top of the lighthouse during the Chiefs game) and got a call out of the blue 2 weeks ago just to see how I'm doing (the invoice arrived 1 week later). The alarm bells are going off in the ticket office, but I doubt the Krafts are hearing them. I've heard that advertising revenue is down and the renewal rate is expected to be not close to what it's been in the past 20 years.

For me, I not as young as I used to be and for me to put out a decent sum of money along with the effort it takes to spend a day in Foxboro, I need to know that there's a plan that makes sense, that give me a reason to renew that investment of money and time. If I don't get that by the end of next season, I'll be happy to sit in front of the TV and use that money to go on a nice vacation. We'll see......

Or none???

Mayo clearly showed his lack of spine in order to get the job as head coach to begin with. He is completely owned, and will do whatever he's told. It's damn shame. I wish he had kept his spine and earned his way into that job rather than using his lips. By many accounts, with proper experience, folks thought he had what it took.

Clearly he didn't believe that about himself.

Nice post and thanks for explaining for someone like me so remote from Foxborough (Michigan) how the local loyal fans of the Patriots are feeling. WOW!

You are describing a RAPID spiral downward.

It is a damn shame, but seemingly richly deserved by the Krafts.

Kraft has always been tight with the money. I am not sure what to tell you. We won 6 chips over 18 years. To me it is not about the money but the handling of the team building which Bill royally screwed up from 2017 on ...

Exactly. Everyone understood it was probably time for Bill to go, and even those who wanted him to stay admitted things had not gone well the past few years with FA and the QB choices etc, etc. So there was sadness at his farewell presser and gratitude from the fans for all he had done and we thought that was it. Things looked amicable enough between Bill and Bob even though it was weird that JK was not there and quite telling. Fans though were good with the presser and with that, onto a new era.

But...RKK could not even wait 2 hours. His next presser that same day, the barbs started and they have continued since. Sadly, Mayo has not helped himself. This is a guy with zero HC or even AC experience, ruminating to the press about how Bill's way was antiquated and how he will change everything and everything will be great. We have Wolf bragging about the Packer way and how it will change things here?? WTF?? The Packers?? How many SBs in the Belichick-Patriots era have the Packers won? We had the Patriot Way thank you Elilot, for 20 years, and we had trophies coming out of our assholes. Your boy Rodgers had the same NFCCGs as Tom Brady ffs.

The Krafts and Mayo have badly misjudged things, as have the media in Boston. They don't understand the fan's ire, and many are choosing the Ostrich approach and some are even sneering at the fans responses.

Kraft lost me I'm afraid when I read the report about how he would routinely jeer and malign Belichick in front of all his guests in the owners box at games. Who does that???

And how many more would there have been, had Belichick been allowed to go after players like Larry Fitzgerald, who he coveted for a long time. Or Ed Reed? He didn't need to be a Jet or a Texan. Or hell, the couple extra bucks it would have cost for D Hopkins just last year?

The drafting was so bad for years that we didn't have any players worth even signing to a second contract. That is the crux of why the team deteriorated ...

The other side is if Bill wasn't given the money, how could he sign the better players. It cuts Kraft's way, too. Last in cash spending for 10 years!!!
Hell, I think Bill did great to win 3 SBs in that time. I bet other owners would be grateful for that.

Don't forget the players the Patriots couldn't afford to keep who were stars. Joe Thuney and Shaq Mason, for example.
I'm certain there are players Bill wanted to keep but couldn't afford bc of low cash spending. Maybe 1 day Bill will tell his side.

You don't build a team through FA, you build through the draft.

Did Bill really want to keep Mason? I’ll give you Thuney for sure, but I very clearly remember this forum saying Mason was toast and not worth paying.

I doubt Bill will ever come clean with the dirty laundry.

He won’t have to because others know the truth and they will.

Curran with Brian Hoyer, informative with a dose of common sense from Hoyer.
BH was surprised at Mac’s capability to absorb an offense. Accomplished in one summer which took Hoyer multiple years.

I made time this am to watch this thinking I'd skip through it quickly as I usually do to get to the good parts. It was riveting listening to Hoyer tell the story
of his time on the Patriots. I didn't skip ahead once and it was a terrific 40 minutes well spent. I urge everyone to take some time and listen to this video. It's great.

They also choose to ignore that the money Bill DID have, he spent on defense as well as the majority of our draft capital as well. Our team is so unbalanced it's shockingly embarrassing and why he was shown the door along with ruining Jones ...
