When a lawyer uses the word "honest" more than once in a post, I'm skeptical.

ROFLROFLROFLROFL

And the long, black plastic thing with batteries?

it is a copy of here as of yesterday morning. The reason i opened it up to access is for everyone to take a look and help me make sure most everything looks to be running as it should.

The next step is to upgrade the version of vbulletin there. I may try out a couple of different versions for everyone to kick the tires on.

Once we decide what we want to do, we would then make the transition live.

So, continue to post here (with the knowledge that a few days worth of posts may not be carried over), but feel free to post and play around on that site to make sure it works properly.

As soon as we all agree on what we want to do, we will make it happen.

minor update this morning. The new site now uses ssl certs (https) which is more secure than not (http).

No, I didn't mean it to sound like that, see my edit. We'll turn those features on the new site when we are ready to move there. No need for it now, but I plan on the new site to be fully featured with the embedded vbulletin functions.

Thanks for all of this, the pop ups and redirects are painful but I have been managing to get around them. It will be nice not to have to try to do that.

God willing and the creek don't rise.

Cheers

I have no idea what this is all about even though I tried to read all the info post. but I'm sure it will be fine, or not.

We are exploring moving the site off of patriotsplanet.com, since we don't have the control we need to fix it, and the owner is nonresponsive.

I have set up a copy of the current board at https://www.patriotsplanet.net/BB/index.php and everyone is free to look around and make sure it works before we upgrade it there.

We are planning to upgrade the board as part of this on a new site.

------

Some additional info for everyone.

I am halfway into the process of installing multiple versions. Before we move, we are going to have 3 different versions of vbulletin to look at to make an informed decision. The current version that's there now, the last version of vbulletin 4, and the most current version of vb5, which is very different I have read.

So I want to get all of them with a good baseline configuration and see which works best.

The biggest plus I have seen for vb5 is built-in mobile support.

But if we go with vb4, I can create a chooseable style that's better for mobile.

Is that why there is no sports betting up for this week? Will that continue on the new site?

The casino in its current form will not come over in any migration. It poses too much of a security risk for the site. We might be able to find something to replace it after the move.

Can I file under Chapter 7?

Cheers

It's an evil place anyway. I spend too much time losing there.

So, should I go there now and blow my stash?

I just popped over and it works like a greased website. I will say I noticed that my browser says the new site is not secure. Is that by design while you fit it up?

Anyway I clicked on the link... fast and NO POP UPS. I will keep checking in.

It is still a shared server, but not shared with Chiefsplanet. Big shared server with a big hosting company. So I expect it will be a bit quicker. We have plenty of bandwidth and plenty of disk space.

It should be https, and secure, unlike here. I made that change today. But if its no longer working I will add it to the list.

EDIT, yeah, its still https, but mine is also showing partially not secure (not like the full red here), something about the images. Its minor, but I'll keep it in mind.

Right now, I completed a vb4 install and am tweaking a little while the vb5 install goes. When both are ready, I will put all 3 links here for everyone to compare.
