Do Your Job Pt 2

It'll be on NFL Network again.

They nuance of not being reliant on Ghost and prepared for his possible XP fail was skirted, instead broached by BB requesting additional play - just in case(no reason).

They gave a reason. They anticipated scoring first, playing from ahead and using the 2 point plays to put additional pressure on the Falcons. It didn't play out that way but that was the plan. I didn't notice any reference to Gostkowski.

They referred to being down 2 in Denver and not making it.

That's due to Ghost.

So add a couple options this time.

The best part of that SB was never seeing Ghost have to attempt another extra point on three consecutive TD drives ... thank heavens we had those 2 point plays.

That "Do Your Job, Part 2", like the first one, is pure Pats porn. What a great job they do with that.

That and BB anticipated a lot of points would be scored, implying the 2 pt conversions could be difference makers.

Yeah, I kinda took it as the roundabout saving the kickers bacon by not openly saying remember Denver, let's be prepared.

The game had a track meet feel leading up and it wouldn't surprise me at all if he fully expected to miss 1 of 5 or 6.

Yeah you're probably right that BB knew that he had to plan for the possibility of Ghost missing an XP, but I would have been more surprised if he came out and said that.

Look at it from a team building standpoint.

If he publicly said that, or allowed a coach to say that that would be a slam against Ghost.

What's the point of throwing a player under the bus if you fully intend to keep him on the team?

The fact that they had no one else in camp this summer to compete with Ghost tells me that BB is convinced that Ghost is "his guy".

IMHO, he thinks Ghost's ability on kickoffs to make long hang time kicks and drop them between the 5 yard line and the goal line offsets the occasional XP he will miss.

If the opponents routinely start inside the 25, and often inside the 20 yard line, that is worth quite a bit in BB's mind.

This graph is the evidence.

Making teams start inside their 20 makes a big difference statistically.

Damn, I missed it and forgot I don't have NFLN any more. The YouTube link has been pulled. I guess it will eventually be on there officially.

Exactly what I'm thinking.

At least until BB finds someone who can make long KOs and also make extra points & FGs. coffee man.

I think he's perfectly ok with it as is.

Thus the no competition.

I think he values the field position ability over an occasional miss.

He just prepares for it.

You could be right but I've never known BB to accept less than he has to accept.

I agree. Ghost has the yips right between the ears and yet no competition. I would image the Pats will have a whole sheet of two point plays this year. I mean who is stopping this offense from the 2?
