Fire Bonamego

LOL surprised he still has a job this morning. Two blocked kicks/punts in the preseason, 1 last week, 2 this week plus all the other ST failures. Guy looks like he's headed to coach high school ball if he doesn't get his sh*t together.

Your wish has been granted.

Interesting how the Wanndstedt effect is still being felt. He got rid of Westhoff... Haven't had a good ST coach since.

+ Dolphins fire special teams coach

It should probably come as no surprise that there is fallout in Miami this morning after Dolphins' special teams were dominated in the Patriots' 41-14 victory. But the repercussions sure were swift.

Dolphins special teams coach John Bonomego has been fired, hours after his unit allowed a 103-yard kick return by Brandon Tate, a Patrick Chung blocked punt that led to a touchdown, and a blocked field goal attempt by Chung that was returned by Kyle Arrington for another score.

The Dolphins also had a punt blocked by the Jets last week.

They did it again,” Dolphins coach Tony Sparano said after the game. “This time from a different spot.”

When asked if the problem on the special-teams meltdown was coaching or the players, Sparano replied, "Next question."

Bonamego had been with the Dolphins since 2008, Sparano's first season. He has been a special terms coach in the NFL for 12 years with three teams. He held the position for the Saints for two years, for three seasons in Green Bay, and four with the Jaguars.

According to the Miami Herald, former Rhode Island head coach and Northeastern assistant Darren Rizzi has been promoted to replace Bonamego.

I don't think he had ST coach duties with Saban.

Don't harsh my Wanndstedt buzz woman. :)

Ah, the good old days of the 'stache and Edwards roaming the rivals' sidelines... Miss that.

This is very interesting. I didn't even realize they HAD a special teams coach. :coffee:

I should have said Wanny and his 70's pornstache. FISHER has the 80s pornstache. Can't you just picture Wanny in a light blue polyester leisure suit and an open shirt with one of those big ugly ass 70s necklaces nested in his chest hair???
an ugly cross of Tom Selleck and Bill Cowher
Heh..that's about it! The permatan was a nice 70's pornstache touch also

Ah, the good old days of the 'stache and Edwards roaming the rivals' sidelines... Miss that.
Yeah and whoever was the Bills coach that week. LOL

I had missed that George Steinbrenner rose from the dead and bought the Dolphins. Interesting development this firing.

From my keyboard to Tuna's ear. Justice is served!

In all seriousness, it's nice to see some accountability. This, along with the fact that they appear to be scrapping the Wildcat, gives me hope that they'll get their shit together during the bye week.
