Augusta is a baby huey type. His weight was always a problem at Missouri. At 370 he's gassed after 4-5 plays but he is effective in the 340 range. He has good strength and he's hard to block but he's running diesel fuel in his engine. There's potential but this poor kid may have a problem with the conditioning test. The Pats are giving him a chance to earn some real money.
He did score a TD vs Fla. in the Refrigerator Perry manner and he's been used as a blocker from the backfield in short yardage situations.

Adam Butler may have a chance to stick.
Vanderbilt plays a 3-4 defense and Butler is well suited to play defensive end at 6-foot-5, 305-pounds. He’s an athletic two-gap player. Last season he played in every game, starting nine times. He finished with 35 tackles, 7.5 tackles for a loss and 2.5 sacks. He switched from offensive guard to defensive tackle in the spring of 2013. Butler has a knack for a big man in blocking kicks, too. Compared to Augusta, Butler is a track star.

Here's an entertaining video that shows Butler - #69. Warning no bad language but turn the sound down. This fan is LOUD.

TE Jacob Hollister. 6'4", 240
It's hard to watch Hollister play and not think of AHern - right down to tripping over his own feet. Like AHern, JHollister is a receiver not a blocker.

Here's PFF's scouting report on him.
Stat to know: 25.6 percent of Hollister’s targets in 2016 came on balls thrown at least 20 yards in the air, the fourth-highest rate among all draft-eligible tight ends. Hollister caught seven of those 11 targets for 189 yards and three touchdowns.

WR Cody Hollister, Arkansas.
If bench reps would make him a good receiver Cody would be a star. 29 reps for a 6'3" WR is pretty good. Unfortunately, Cody doesn't have elite speed. It's nice that the twins have a chance to make a club together. Nice move BB.

Both Hollisters can play STs

I totally missed this earlier.

WR Austin Carr. Played a lot in the slot. 90 rec, 1,247 yards, 12 TDs for Northwestern in 2016. He was PFF's highest graded WR in college for 2016.

He would have probably been my #1 WR target for the Pats if I had finished scouting the WRs for this draft. I'm ecstatic over this signing.

Nasty quick
3 cone - 6.72
SS - 4.04

This signing may spell trouble for Amendola. This kid is really good.
He's a good candidate for the Foxboro Flu

Eventual Edelman replacement?

My fav UDFA is David Jones. If he can shed his injury woes, he makes this team.

I also am a fan of Dwayne Thomas. In a sneaky, Logan Ryan, kinda way.

If he does survive the conditioning test, which appears as a long shot, then he won't see the first preseason game based on this clip.

He stands straight up on the snap on every play, negating his natural advantage. Pro linemen will positively murder him. He's got more problems than just conditioning.

I found that painful to watch and I do hope he did well in school. He's my early leader for first cut of camp.

Eventual Edelman replacement?

He has a lot of technique to clean up before going there. Leaves his feet too often. Catches the ball inside his body. Kicks his feet up behind him at the point of the catch. Rounds his cuts too much. Doesn't sink his hips on turns. Loses body control too often for YAC. Poor release from LOS vs press man coverage. These are things that coaching can correct but the first 4 things I listed are naturally difficult to get out of the habit doing. CBs will tear him up in the NFL if he continues to do these things. Edelman learned but he took 2-3 years to do it. Carr will have 1 training camp.

I like how they circle him on every single play. As if anyone has any doubt which one he is. ROFL
