NFL: Al-Jazeera-implicated players must speak or face suspension

This is interesting. Kraft is part of this committee. Guess he has not been ostracized after all.

NFL forms Chairman’s Committee to work with Roger Goodell

The NFL has various committees that oversee different areas of league business and the chairmen of those committees have long worked closely with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

Now they’ll do it in a formal committee of their own. According to multiple reports, Goodell sent a memo to NFL teams announcing the formation of the Chairman’s Committee made up of some of the most prominent members of the group that employs Goodell. Chiefs owner Clark Hunt, Giants owner John Mara, Patriots owner Robert Kraft, Texans owner Bob McNair and Steelers president Art Rooney II will serve on the committee.

The name that likely jumps out from that list is Kraft, who has had plenty of negative things to say about the way the league handled Deflategate over the last couple of years. He has remained an influential part of league operations as the chairman of the broadcast committee and member of the finance committee, however, and that keeps him in a prime spot at the table even if he’s been critical of Goodell.

The group isn’t expected to take any votes while serving as advisors for Goodell on the league’s internal priorities and strategies.
Roger called his old backing band up and is doing this to set Jerry Jones down after he changed the whole LA situation.

Power for the whole.

Individually he was slapped around like a $20 hookah.
Leave Mariah Carey's sister out of this!!

It's automatic that the chairmen of the various committees are on this Chairman's Committee. Kraft sits bc he's chairman of the broadcast committee. Don't forget it was the owners who were pulling Goodell's string on deflategate; Goodell did exactly what the other owners wanted and Kraft understands that.

Applying Article 46 to every alleged infraction by NFL players is Goodell's only avenue to win each and every argument. The NFLPA must argue that his continued application of this clause, and his avoidance of all other applicable, case-specific clauses defies the essence of the CBA language.

They must show that he is in violation of the CBA as written.

All players will basically, ultimately be found insubordinate unless they agree to be interrogated, or 'admit' their guilt.

Also, if the NFL truly has credible evidence regarding the AJ report against those named, they should reveal punishments for said players immediately.

I believe it is necessary for the NFLPA to renegotiate Article 46 in the current CBA and insist by a lock out if Goodell does not agree. I understand that Goodell's lawyers may have a field day with that but there is now way too much unwarranted usage of Article 46 without just cause.

I am very disappointed with the NFLPA for not being able to more successfully and better support the players (Brady, Petersen, Rice, and now the AJ group) for the many different issues. :stirpot:

Hasn't Article 46 been a part of many CBA's? It's just the current commissioner's interpretation that is the issue - no?

Yes.

It's been in place since the 70s.

It's just an asshat of a commish with a lawyer whispering in his ear gone rogue.
