Look who is DEAD ****ING LAST in Punting this season:

http://www.nfl.com/stats/categoryst...ionCategory=PUNTER&season=2009&seasonType=REG

Dead Last in 2008:

http://www.nfl.com/stats/categoryst...rience=null&tabSeq=1&qualified=true&Submit=Go

(10 Touchbacks in 49 Punts)

Dead Last in 2007:

I used to laugh at the people who'd say "bring back Ken Walter".

At least he was 2nd to last in 2006, a vast improvement:

It is time for Chris ****ing Hanson to go. For a coach as smart as BB is, and for as much as he believes in playing field position, one would think he would bring in at least an AVERAGE punter.

It's not even like Hanson is average or below average. He is the WORST PUNTER IN THE LEAGUE 3 YEARS RUNNING!

Why? Is? He? Here?

For the love of God, PLEASE let him be gone tomorrow. I'll drive him to the airport.

And I used to be sort of joking when I said that.
I didn't realize it was that bad. Good stuff TD.

It's that bad.

It may seem trivial, but how many times the Hanson fail to change field position this year?

Lechler in Oakland is a WEAPON for them. Your punter should be able to flip field position. Hanson hamstrings the defense and forces Belichick to go for it on 4th down more often than maybe he would otherwise.

Think of it this way.

Do the Patriots go for it on 4th and 2 in Indy if they have Shane Lechler warming up to punt? I don't think it was so much a case that Belichick thought the defense couldn't stop Manning, I just think he thought the defense couldn't stop Manning IF HE ONLY HAD TO GO 50 YARDS.

I just don't get why he's still here. He hurts the team in a position where players get cut all. the. time.

Odd, you may get your wish based on this progression: Return Yardage

2007 - #1
2008 - #4
2009 - #7

Then again, opposing teams had progressively more opportunities to accumulate return yardage from 2007-2009. Bottom line, BB liked Ken Walter and his 30 yarders, and he's kept Hanson despite fan outcries - so which metric is "BB" focused one? Hang time? Fair Catches? Total return yardage?

Really? After all the problems with this team this year, and the utter failure today, you are focusing in on THE PUNTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As near as I can tell, it's "holding ability".

Yes. It's time for Chris Hanson to go.

(Plus, I think this is one everyone can agree on)

My fav non-Edelman moment of the game today was after Hanson shanked one, and one of the Pats special teamers was heard VERY clearly screaming "C'mon Chris!!!"

Yeah I heard that one too, I think they were on like the 45 and he kicked it to the 32. ROFL.

I think BB tries to get the worst punter in the league, just for the hell of it. Hanson, Walter, the steroid head...
