Patriots fans are...?

That's news to me. most Super Bowl losses? Are you sure? And most embarrassing losses? Who knew?

Joe. Joe knew.

Which loss is the most embarrassing?

The one against Washington, where Doug Williams threw four TDs in one quarter and Timmy Smith looked like Jim Brown,

or

The more recent game against Seattle, where the Seahawks knew they had the game in the bag after about 12 seconds of elapsed game time?

Were either of those as bad as the beat down the 49ers gave them?

I think they were equally bad. All but 4 were complete blowouts.

Oh, I forgot about that one. Yeah, that's probably the most embarrassing. And surely the game that settles the pecking order between Montanan and Elway.

Disagree. Losing to Doug Williams is by far more disturbing! At least Joe knows Super Bowls.

Yeah, I thought after the Broncos went up by 10 in the first quarter that they stood a good chance of winning the game.

But as bad as the four TDs by Williams was, it was the counter-trey (or whatever that scheme was) runs by Smith that was the most memorable part of the game. The Broncos never figured out a way to stop that play, for the entire game. More of a coaching failure than a player failure, at least the way I look at it.

Every casino, Las Vegas: January, 1988:

"So Washington is starting Doug Williams?"
"And Timmy Smith will be in the backfield, too."
"Timmy Smith. And Doug Williams--from the Bucs?"
"Yeah"
"Uh, guys, how about we just pull this one. Sit it out. We've got March Madness coming up..."
"Wait--Washington is playing Denver."
"Denver?"
"Yeah, Denver. Elway is on the other side."
"Shit man, why didn't you say so! Skins -17"
"Should probably go -21"
"-31 it is."
"Done."

Elway should have stopped them.
