Actually he decided he wanted to leave the Cowboys and go to the Chargers.
He knows they can't win with Prescott
Plus he might also be looking at Jerrah and think that even if they offered him the HC job someday, he'd have to deal with that a-hole

He was a bit of a hero in Houston, they all loved him. Guys like Cushing and JJ Watt really looked up to him and though he was a great leader. It's a great choice.

Texans need to be patient and let Ryans build the team up.
I had a feeling Lovie was a stop-gap, although only getting one year was surprising.
maybe that was the plan all along for Lovie to keep the seat warm while they waited for Ryans to feel he was ready to take an HC spot?
