BOSTON (CBS) — Shannon Sharpe was a professional football player. He’s currently a professional football analyst, but he may also be a professional instigator.

Sharpe made some waves Sunday evening when he ripped Patriots coach Bill Belichick for not talking with Steve Tasker for a TV interview after losing the AFC Championship Game.

“Bill Belichick makes it real easy for you to root against the Patriots,” a visibly fired-up Sharpe said. “You can’t be a poor sport all the time, you’re not going to win all the time, and he does this every time he loses. It is unacceptable.”

His comments enraged plenty of Patriots fans, leading to Sharpe to no doubt be bombarded by tweets on his Twitter account, @ShannonSharpe. It was through that account that Sharpe really honed his craft of ticking off Patriots fans. Some examples:

“Win one [Super Bowl] post spy gate,” he said to Patriots fan. When told that the Patriots have a better record after the 2007 Spygate scandal than they did before, he said, “And less [Super Bowl] wins.”

One Twitter user wrote sarcastically to Sharpe, “a surveyor just called me & I hung up rather than answer their questions, I sure hope you don’t call me out for it.” Sharpe responded, “Pats lost so move on.”

When another user accused Sharpe of being hung up on the Belichick interview snub, Sharpe said, “I prefer to talk about [teams] in [Super Bowl] which Pats are not.”

Sharpe also didn’t like hearing from people who brought up Ray Lewis’ murder charges from 2001.

“That’s who some pats fans are, but some are really nice and understanding,” Sharpe said. When a user sent a link to a Buffalo News story about the victims of the Atlanta murder, Sharpe said, “It doesn’t bother me, but it proves my point .#sorelosers”

When one user pointed out potential hypocrisy for Sharpe criticizing Belichick but not Jim Harbaugh, who refused an interview after winning, he said, “That’s not our [game] I talk about what I see not what I hear.”

Sharpe also tweeted “hehe” when a user tweeted, “If only the Pats players had the same bravado and toughness as their wives, the team would have 3 more rings.”

You’ll remember that Sharpe was famously shown in an NFL Films clip from 1996 grabbing a sideline phone and saying, “I found the president! President, we need the national guard, we need as many men as you can spare, because we are killing the Patriots!” So mocking New England isn’t anything new for the Hall of Fame tight end.

Overall, Sharpe seems amused by the tweets directed at him from New England, but he’s proven to be a master of pushing people’s buttons. Some would say it’s a skill, while others would call it annoying. Sharpe offered a reminder about how Twitter works to the latter group.

“You guys are upset because you lost a [game],” Sharpe wrote. “You don’t like what I say don’t follow.”

I wonder if his tweets are like his marble mouth rants... **ck you Sharpe, you're one of the reasons I can't stand sports media lately...

So is it right for a media member to say things like....Patriots need to win a title post spygate to make their superbowls legit? Not because of some moral reason but because that is not horribly stupid that it makes me think they know zero about football even though he actually played the game, and also hypocritical considering the Bronco's have not won a superbowl since their cap violations of 97 and 98?

When I see this giant turds face on the tv, I change the channel.

He is the biggest douche nozzle

Someone should tell him to win a SB without cheating the salary cap.

So now that Shannon has made a complete ass of himself, let's make a bigger one.

Steve Tasker told Felger & Mazz that on the Friday before the AFCCG, Bill Belichick told him that if the Pats lost he likely would NOT do an interview. So GFY, you self-righteous ass, Shannon Sharpe.

Tasker: We knew Belichick wouldn't do interview

The world was supposed to hear from Bill Belichick in a postgame interview with CBS after the Patriots lost to the Ravens in the AFC Championship Game.

It didn't happen, and there were many people - including CBS' Shannon Sharpe - upset with the Pats head coach for "standing up" CBS.

Steve Taster, who is the current NFL analyst on CBS and supposed to do the interview with Belichick says that that isn't exactly the case.

Joining Mike Felger and Tony Massarotti on The Felger and Mazz Show, Tasker explains that CBS had a heads up by Belichick that if New England lost, it was highly unlikely that he'd do any interviews.

"Listen, and obviously Bill [Belichick] doesn't owe me anything … I've obviously been on one or two radio shows talking about this, we knew he wasn't going to do it on Friday. He didn't stand us up. We asked him in our production meeting, 'Listen, Bill, if you win you get the trophy presentation all that. If you lose, I'll be outside the locker room we want to talk to you then.' He was like, 'eh, I don't do that very well.' But he goes, 'We'll see.'"

Tasker, therefore, was prepared that if the Pats lost, they'd need another Patriots player to interview.

"I said I want this player, this player, this player, or this player if Bill doesn't want to talk to us," Tasker said.

So while the guys down on the field and involved in the game production knew what was going on, the guys like Sharpe and everybody else had no clue, instead bashing Belichick for snubbing the station.

"No, [they didn't know]," Tasker said. "I appreciate Shannon's passion, but they didn't know that. So Devin McCourty came out and did the interview."

can't stand that jerk off.....sounds like he is always talking with a carvel ice cream cake in his mouth...he is a total Pats hater

the guys like Sharpe and everybody else had no clue

Wait, is that comment about the interview, or a general statement?
